I stumbled into the store in the late afternoon looking for something else, totally forgetting the launch. They still had several sizes in this navy jacket, but fewer of the gray. $129. Just sayin', there may be something worthwhile in the stores still. I don't think that most folks "got" the idea behind MMM here in PDX at least. Although, I have to admit, when the SA handed me a disposable plastic bag to go with my purchase (not to carry it--they're banned here in PDX after all) and explained that it could be transformed into a tank top, I laughed myself silly. You have color but it's not strong and bold and contrasting as strongly as #1 does. Perhaps that's what felt off to you? I used a brown belt and brown boots because they felt more interesting than my black ones. Maybe because they add more variety? </p> <p>Second one is less successful. I was in love with the scarf tying example that Inge posted in her street style inspiration point #2. So I got out one of my favorite scarves and tied it the same way. I don't think it looks as interesting. In fact, even though I tried to add a lot of interest with the leopard wedges and the tortoise shell bracelet, this feels a little dull to me. Any ideas? Brown and tan trousers were duds. This just feels a lot like something I would have liked and been happy with a few years ago, but not interesting enough for me now. </p> <p>Final pics are a new jacket that I got from H&amp;M from their MMMargiela collaboration. I adore it, but boy is it hard to photograph. It has really interesting seaming throughout. I love that it is navy pinstripe too. It really feels like my avant-garde jacket found me. First attempt at styling really showed why a white shirt would be best, but still decent with the gray one. I chickened out a bit, though. The stitching on the shoulders and sleeve is intended to be left as a witty little bespoken reference, but as a person who rabidly hates vents left tacked closed on others, I had to take them out. Too witty for me. </p>
