They’re patch pockets on the front, and they gave me pause at first, but I think the print blends well and they don’t add horizontal lines right where I don’t need them, as I feared. </p> <p>And I added the knot to the blue Cloth &amp; Stone dress I’m wearing in #1.<br /> I can’t remember whether I saw that treatment in the store or I came up with it myself — I have been tying up the hem of an old midi/maxi skirt of mine for many years, so it’s kind of a old trick I’ve been using for a while to help eliminate tripping hazard and also rein in extra volume/fabric. Both are lightweight and comfortable. No styling really, just threw on with black and white slides. </p> <p>1 WIW today. Old Cloth &amp; Stone tee dress. I still like it. Soooo comfy. </p> <p>2-3 Maeve skirt. Semi-tucked black tee is probably one of the main ways I’d wear it. I’m inclined to keep.</p> <p>4-5, 6-7 Anthro charcoal gray tee dress. First two photos as is. Second two I rolled the sleeves slightly for a more angled sleeve and added a statement necklace. I don’t think it photographs as well as it looks IRL because of the dark color. I like it quite a bit. </p> <p>8-9 Boden tee dress. I like it but not as much as the Anthro grey one. I like the blue color more, but I like the waist detail of the Anthro one more than the drawstring treatment. But I do like it. </p> <p>10+ The Boden bird print dress. Pinched extra fabric in various places so you can see the fit issue. I’m wondering if I should try the 6 Tall. I like where the waist hits in this one, but it really is a little big all over. I think the neckline can work with the halter-ish bra if i correct the fit issues. But what do we think of this for me. It’s cute and I do like it. I almost wore the skirt today, but then realized there was some potential of getting a bit grimy. I went for my old Anthro Cloth &amp; Stone tee dress, which hides the dirt better. It's the first time this summer I've worn it, even though it was a serious workhorse for a couple of years. I was thinking it was starting to look a bit worse for the wear, but now that I put it on, it's not bad. It does tend to bag out a bit after a day of hot-weather wear, but it bounces back in the wash pretty well.&nbsp;</p> <p>As I was about to leave the house, the Boden shipment arrived, with these two dresses. The blue teeshirt dress is a decent fit -- the fabric is substantial, perhaps a little warm for me? but I only tried it on very quickly, and I was warm from being outside for a few minutes (it's over 90 today with high humidity). Not bad at all. But... again, another solid tee dress, in blue. I could perhaps see it taking the place of the old Cloth &amp; Stone dress when it finally bites the dust.&nbsp;</p> <p>The bird print dress is cute. The top may be a little tricky with a bra -- I have a couple of bras that hook in the center of the back to accommodate a more halter-ish style, so I'll have to try it on with one of them to see if the bra straps are suitably hidden for my taste (my strapless bra is a last resort -- it's super uncomfortable in hot weather, which defeats the whole point of a breezy summer dress). The fabric is wonderfully lightweight, and the print is cute without being twee, which I just can't do. The cut saves it from being cutesy. And the print is a refreshing change from my sea of summer dresses which all seem to be muted blue, black, grey, or blue and white print.&nbsp;</p> <p>The other tricky thing about the bird print dress is the fit. It's a little big in a size 8 (go figure, I try on a 10 in something else and it's tight, I give up trying to figure out sizing!). Actually, I don't mind the fit on the bottom half, but the top is big. The armholes are a bit too open and low, and there is extra room along the sides. It's certainly alterable, and considering the dress was on sale, the cost of alterations is not a deal breaker at all. I just need to figure out if the dress is a) wearable with a bra I already own, and b) otherwise *me*. The cut itself seems pretty flattering, and the length is nice.
