I'm with Suz, they are both casual but #1 is rugged-casual and #2 is dressy-casual. If you can only keep one, I'd say to look over the types of outfits you're planning to wear with the boots and determine if they need that touch of rugged or a touch of dressiness. They do serve slightly different purposes, though.

I like the shape of #2 better, but #1 are more practical because they are not suede and because they have thicker soles, better for cold weather. I don't remember where you live, but while #2 are really nice, they don't look like they could brave the elements very well.

As for K/R, I am a small-wardrobe kind of person, which means I would in theory want to return one pair or the other. But they are quite different styles and would be worn in different weather conditions (and the less practical of the two are so incredibly cute), I am quite sure I could come up with a justification for keeping both of them. Then I would have to make sure I wore both of them a lot, to justify my justifications... LOL!

I have boots the seem a duplication but they fit different purposes. I think this is a case like mine.

They are different enough to definitely keep both!

I would want an alternative if the weather forecast suggests that suede might not be the best or if you might be puddle jumping. The two pairs also have different vibes, so I would keep both.

Disclosure: Last month, I bought both leather and suede black booties; the styles were much more similar to each other than yours, but I felt they fulfilled slightly different functions.

I am with Suz. If the budget would permit I think both are keepers. The Earth Origins is more casual, with the Suede somewhat less so. I can see both working well in my wardrobe

If budget allows and you often wear boots (i.e. winter is a dominant season) then I think you can justify both. To me they would fill different purposes. Both are casual, but one is more dressy casual and one is more rugged.

I was assessing my winter footwear during some recent chilly weather and this is what I have:

1. Knee-High Black Boots with a Thicker Heel and Buckles
2. Slouchy mid-calf Pull On Boots with a Cone Heel
3. Flat Timberland Winter Boots (These are Gear)
4. High Heeled Jessica Simpson Minas Ankle Booties (Orphans)

The two knee high boots both work well under trousers for work or over skinnies/tights with skirts. They are both a little on the casual side, but I just brave the cold a bit for dress up occasions.

The hole I found (made up?) was a pair of flat boots that I could wear with my dress pants hemmed for flats, and maybe over skinnies and with skirts and tights sometimes as well. I decided on a moto/engineer style ankle boot and purchased

Pic 1: Earth Origins Leather Booties in black: sturdy, ridiculously comfortable and I like the buckle and zipper details

I had previously fallen in love with ...

Pic 2: Shoemint Abigail in Black Suede: Were out of stock in my size when I bought the Earth Origins, but then they were back and I ordered them because I had a coupon for 50% off and apparently very little willpower.

So here's the question: Assuming the Abigails fit well and I am happy with them, should I return the Earth Origins? Do you think there is room for two pairs of flat, black ankle booties in one woman's closet? Which do you like better?
