I sort of like the first outfit, though I would rather see it with a brighter top, to be honest. I find that orange to be a bit off next to your skin.

As for the sundress... you do have a GREAT body, especially if you are 43. What a great shape to be in! BUT I think that dress is too short, clingy and skimpy for anyone older than 14, especially if they have curves. It's not that it looks bad per se, but it does look a tad tacky, overly alluring and beachy. For the beach it might be nice, or for being at home/neighborhood, but nothing else. The slits do not help either. I can't figure out how a dress like that has been designed by D&G and thus extremely expensive at some point,

Krish: I love #1, and I think the belt is arty, as Angie stated. I do thing the outfit, sans belt but with a necklace would also look great. The length and silhouette is marvelous.

You definitely have the bod for #2 -- I would probably go for lighter shoes and either save this for casual beach / park wear, or add a jacket or cardi. It's not an issue of indecency though, I just think it would be more flattering for any one wearing a shorter dress -- you know, choosing to showcase either legs or the shoulders. A very fun thrift find, btw!

#2 looks a little juvenile to me - between the print and slits. Most others seem to really like it, though, so it may just be me. I think #1 is really fab.

Krish, you are an arty and creative person, and your style reflects this all the way. I like that the belt communicates this message to me in #1. Bien!

The only part of #2 that I am not fond of are the front slits that fall open as you stride and sit. This makes the skirt even shorter than it is. My 2 cents - which you are free to embrace or toss

Thank you ladies! This is ultra helpful! I am going to experiment with belts for outfit #1, and different shoes with the sundress. DTW these Clark platform sandals are not black, they are denim: http://www.clarkscanada.com/pr.....lue-fabric. They are so easy, I forget to wear my other footwear.

I never know when it's appropriate to show some skin or not. I grew up in Montreal where such an outfit is totally normal, any time, on anyone. Or was, anyway, when I lived there. But now I am not in Montreal any more and I'm always afraid of committing indecency faux-pas.

The belt seems to elicit mixed reactions. I am certainly trying your suggestion of a long necklace, it sounds fun.

Thank you again for your input!

I don't think the belt idea is wacko at all. I quite like it! But it would also look good without, or with a different belt. The skirt is a lovely one for summer. It looks breezy. And it is great with those shoes.

You are definitely not too old, fat, short or too anything else to rock the sundress. I do think it might look a wee bit better if you had a tiny bit of sun. And speaking for myself, I'd probably want to cover a bit at night. But for the right occasion, you can certainly wear it. I agree with Deborah that maybe a different shoe would work better.

I would forget about the belt in #1. Keep it simple. You could add a long necklace?

#2 is a lovely dress. There is potential for it to kind of blend into your gorgeous fair skin but perhaps a denim jacket could help. It does fit you well and my answer is no tonal your questions :). I might try a different shoe as the black appears a little heavy.

To my eyes, the belt is too heavy for the outfit. What about swapping the belt for a longer necklace?

You look fantastic in the sundress and for the right occasion, you shouldn't hesitate to wear it, but for running around town or date night, I would add a denim jacket or cute cardie.

I like the belt over the cami in #1. I don't find it anymore girlish than a pussy bow at the neckline. It elongates the leg line by defining your waist, it ties in the skirt fabric and I'm sure it's much more comfortable than a hard leather belt in the heat. I've tried this several times on the forum and everyone told me to either "skip the belt" or "get a real belt". But I still like the look!

I think you have an awesome bod, and you can certainly wear the sundress. You might feel more comfortable covering up a little more on top (denim jacket) OR on the bottom (leggings) if you're unsure.

Both looks are really nice! I think belting over the cami in #1 is a great idea. The dress in #2 is a lovely shape and print for you. I like Christieanne's suggestion about a white jacket or denim if you feel you need a tad more coverage. I think you look great in it body-wise!

#1: I really like this one, but I *think* I would like it better without the belt - I love the silhouette, the color combo & those shoes, but I find the belt/bow a little bit precious.

#2: No to all of your questions. You can totally wear that dress. I would feel very exposed though, so I can't imagine wearing it alone - I would be adding a light cardi.

Love outfit #1 - not crazy at all. You could do that belt or dress it down with a tan or brown belt. Orange and navy seems so on trend too.
You are rocking that dress for sure. I think it's showing a lot of skin but you could always put on jean jacket or shrug or something light on top when you go out. You can definitely work it!

Hi,

I would like to have your opinion on these possible summer outfits below.

Pic 1: This French blue silk skirt came with its fabric belt, but somehow it's too bulky at the waist when worn with it. I had the idea of dressing it down with this orange cami and wearing the belt over it. What do you think? Would you think this is totally crack pot?

Pic 2: A thrifted D&G sun dress. I am 43. Am I too old/ too pale / too fat / too short to wear this? Please be brutal.

Thank you in advance!
