Thank you, Joyce. I like the contrasting band and the subtle horizontal stripe, too.It is growing on me.
Gigi-I'll start the thread tomorrow. I have to head to bed, now, unfortunately, work tomorrow. :)

Alana, I'm not sure where to find tanks and camis in larger sizes. I would just start a new thread, as I'm guessing that there are other people in the same boat.

Gigi, tht's a relief about the pants leg!

I don't know if I would wear a long underwear type top underneath? More likely a sweater/cardigan of some sort I can take off and put on as the need arises. My body temperature is all over the place these days. The year before last I was cold all year. Last year, I hardly even wore my turtlenecks--just cotton tees and the occasional cardigan.

But, I have a nice but rather low cut sweater coming from LE--and it may require a tank or cami underneath. Where does an oversized gal find such things?

I like both the top and the bottom. I think the top is very flattering on you—it shows off your curves without being body-con. Can you wear a long underwear top under it for winter if the top is too thin? Sometimes you can find silk undershirts that are paper thin that don't add bulk but provide extra warmth. I have a couple from WinterSilks and like them.

As far as the pants length goes, in general I think the factoring in of the shoes applies mostly with bootcuts. It's nice to have the flared leg of the pant cover the shoe most of the way, so when you wear bootcuts, you need to know what height of heel you want to wear with them so that you can get the pants length right. But the pants you show here are more tapered at the bottom, so you won't be covering your shoes with them. So I think they're OK regardless of what shoes you wear them with. :)

I don't doubt you have every colour of those Clark loafers. They are gorgeous.

ABC--I know that pants need to be hemmed for different heel heights. Hmmm. I hadn't thought about picking one height and sticking with it--that is a great idea. (Oh, so is this why Janice Rigg's Start From Scratch wardrobe puts the neutral shoes, next? lol!)

I am unlikely to have more than one pair of shoes for winter, though. I just don't need them, unfortunately. (I wear steel-toed boots at work.) My winter boots, though? I had thought I'd have two pairs, but the heel issue could over-complicate things, yet again. Crikey.

ETA: Clarks run TTS for me (8B). Trotters are all over the place in sizing. I have some narrows, some wides, some 8s, some 8.5s.

So those are trotters?
I think I first saw those when I was 14, 15 and I lusted after them. I thought they were so smart--the epitome of the grown up shoe! The perfect accessory to go with? Glasses on a chain. Tres chic.

Alana, I have every color of those loafers. The black flat leather and the black patent croc get the most wear in my wardrobe. The snake print is great for Fall with lighter colored pants. Both the brown and grey croc patents are gorgeous. They'll be getting more wear with my Fall colors.

Since you're light on shoes for fall/winter I would urge you to try to figure out your ideal height and try to get that heel height as much as you can. Otherwise you're going to need pants hemmed for flats, for x height heels, for y height heels, etc. speaking from experience :-/

Thanks Shevia! Yes, they are scrunched and tapered at the bottom--versatile. Glad you like the top. And I guess I am glad I'm not alone in being confused about the category. I think it should be it's own, really.

PPL is Angie's term for proper pant length. On the iPad now otherwise I'd put a link here for you, see if you can find it. Very informative.

Drooling over both of those pikolinos. Would you let me know how the tall ones work? I don't have much luck with retail boots either. Duo is the only one I found to fit my healthy calves.

As for other indoor shoes. Hmm. Thinking what I'd recommend.

I like the neckline and color of the top. The pants look good too, they are scrunching at the bottom right? PPL is perfect pants length but these seem tapered at the ankle and fine to me. Shopping or dressing for k/r - I have never been sure myself!

I like both pieces. The shorter version of the Pikolinos arrived yesterday...soooo comfy! I like Clarks and Trotters loafers for support and comfort...although Clarks are more comfy for me.

What's PPL?

And shoes, um, well, yes, these are all I have for now. I do have a pair of hiking type winter boots. The Pikolinos which I want (below) won't arrive at the store until Aug 15th--though I did try on a pair of Frye's today and there was no way I was going to get them over my calf. I have a bad feeling about this. I may want the ankle boots instead.
I'd like a pair of loafers for indoor wear--or another flat shoe--something comfy--
I'll take suggestions for indoor shoes, by the way. I need some with good support. (These are ready to be retired.)

Ok, so I had a feeling that there may be some new fall clothes at Pennington's (the store I shop at for pants) and sure enough, I came home with two items.
I really like the trousers. They feel like a knit. I think the length is OK: I like them sort of slouchy like this--but if they look odd, let me know!

The top is another matter. I quite liked it in the dressing room, but, now, here at home, it feels a bit thin--and maybe it doesn't stand far enough away from my curves to be all that flattering, iykwim?

Insofar as my needs go, I have only one other bottom suitable for fall (straight leg dark wash jeans) and four turtle necks. I have more pieces coming from Land's End. You know, I could have titled this "Janice Riggs was right" because I've really been feeling the urge to get my trousers sorted so I'd have something by which to judge the suitability of all the tops coming soon.

These pieces are for my "Mom-On-The-Go" capsule, and will never be worn to work--so at-home wear and errands and outings. My wardrobe plan for Fall/Winter is here. (Warning: It's long.)

PS: I don't know what's going in with my bra--the tops of the cups seem to stand out and away from the tops of the girls. Nevermind, I just figured out the straps are too loose.

Housekeeping note: To what category do K/R posts belong? Shopping or dressing?

Thanks everyone. Sorry I am rambling.
