The SE are great looking boots (and look terrific with your outfit) but they would also be too high for me. I do like the floral ones on you, but understand what you are saying about the round toe. Thank you for reviewing and showing these -- it's really valuable to see them because the shaft height is a bit higher than some of the other higher shaft booties people have been trying here so far. If that makes any sense at all.

The first pair look to high for me to imagine. I love the floral pair on you - much more on you than the stock picture. I think you might reconsider those (enabling alert).

Love your All Saints dress. It still looks current, and the scarf brightens your face.

Thanks for the reviews -- I love the SE pair, although I'm trying to stick closer to 2-2 1/2 inches, and make 3 inches my max for heels, for much the same reasons as you!

The floral booties are wonderful. I think they will take some ingenuity to style. Sometimes that's a good thing --- a new item can break us out of a rut! I see what you mean about the kick-flare proportion!

Thank you for the reviews, UmmLila! The SEs would have been too high for me too. I love the floral pair but see what you mean of the sweetness. Are you keeping any of them?

I totally get what you mean about the loss of the flare with booties that do not fit snug around the ankle - I have just started a thread on that same exact issue!

Love the all black outfit - the All Saints dress is very flattering on you and looks very current despite its age,

This is interesting.......I see what you mean about the jeans not being flared, or looking flared over the boot. I've been puzzled as to why these ones were called cropped flares to begin with and I think it every time they are posted on YLF. The floral boots are totally out of my comfort zone aesthetically, but I actually like them on you with this dress - which is also really nice looking on you ! A pointier toe might make them look a bit witchy, no? Too bad about the fit on the SE's - they look like a nice boot.

The Sam Edleman booties are hot! But they would be too high for me as well. Thanks for the reviews.

It feels like I've been doing a lot of online shopping and returning this month. Since we've been discussing higher shaft booties, I thought I'd review two that I plan to send back.

These grey Sam Edelman booties come in a few good colors, also including a lovely dark red. The quality of the suede on these was good, and there is some interesting texture carved into them. The heel is a bit too high for me (I have an arthritic toe that hurts if I push it too hard). I also was not thrilled about the fit across the upper front of the foot and lower ankle; there was a lot of extra space there.

The dark floral Spring Steps were an Angie pick. I love dark floral everything. They are very comfortable. However, between the round toe and the laces, I think they look a bit too sweet. If only the toe were more pointed.

I took a couple of photos below. The black outfit is what I'm actually wearing today (not my usual thing and in fact this AllSaints dress is about six years old but I'm really trying to do dresses this fall). The other one is my crop flare jeans, since that's the reason I was interested in high shaft booties to begin with -- ankle coverage for colder weather. Not a great outfit here (and I have a tank and heavy leggings still on underneath which added to bulk) but I was aiming for proportions more than flattery per se. The jeans don't look very flared over the bootie, either, which I would have preferred.
