I think it looks odd to carry two normal handbags, but I often end up with a second tote bag for groceries and such. If I had a car I probably wouldn't, but since when I go out I usually do a bunch of different things and stay out all day I end up with extra stuff to cart home.

This is funny because I'm actually carrying a second bag today (a cream canvas tote) because I needed to bring some extra stuff with me today. This is very rare for me though - usually I have one BIG bag stuffed full with my lunch, personal electronics, knitwear, etc. I don't like to carry a second bag because I'm always afraid I'll lose it or hit people with it (I'm pretty sure I whacked some people with my tote bag today, for example).

Zap, I love my Le Pliage! It's really useful when I need to carry a lot of stuff, and I've even used it as an overnight bag.

The pliage looks great, stylish AND practical, great souvenir piece with the Eiffel Tower!

Yep, a second bag is pretty common in NYC. My only "serious" purchase from Paris was a Longchamp pliage bag with the Eiffel tower printed on it. So far, I have carried it everyday since my return. The thing is brilliant, I fold it away and pack it in my purse, when not in use.

I carry an enviro bag in my purse too and end up using it most days for lunch & purchases. I try to have patterned ones in seasonal colours so it looks ok with my outfit. Actually I usually get them free and given how much use they get, even if I paid for them CPW would be very low... I should get a few more! Currently I have a teal one with subtle logo for the local BIA that I got at a parade.
Carrying two leather bags looks too heavy to me, both literally and visually.

Great link, thanks! I sometimes carry two bags too, but not regularly. When it happens I use a fabric bag that I had in reserve in the other bag, the look of carrying two normal handbags looks strange to me. Of these pictures I like the looks best where the two normal bags don't look too similar.

I enjoyed that, Scarlet - thank you! Loved the street style and made me think about this. Sometimes I am a two bag lady when I travel....

Fun to see! Not just the second bags, the whole street style thing is fun too They are (overall) much more put together than I would see in downtown Minneapolis!

I like that they added their occupation because it's surprisingly consistent with their style vibe. . .

Thanks, Scarlet!

I thought this slide show was fun, but I missed the link love thread this week. I actually used to be a three bag lady (purse, laptop, lunch). Now I don't need to carry a laptop. I thought it was interesting that several of the people mentioned carrying a second bag because they didn't want to ruin their designer bag with weight or liquid.
