Becase of my high waist a semi tuck is almost always on a lower rise jean -- otherwise I look ridiculous. I think it would look fine on you. The lower rise will provide more "room" for your torso and visually extend it anyway.

You definitely can! I wear low-rise almost exclusively for denim, and semi-tuck a LOT. I'll also semi-tuck into my mid-rise trousers. My WIWs show both in action if you need more visuals

I am so into semi-tucking. It's so much better for my figure than a real tuck or a straight line across my mid-section. Here's an example with a sweater:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....on-formula

A sloppy tuck with button down and - eek! - longer hair:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-half-tuck

And a drapey top with a belt:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....h-demi-tuc
I semi tuck low rise pants. I need to to hide muffin. I am very thin these days but still have muffin. It also helps to lengthen the leg, which is shorter with a low rise pant. I am envious that you don't have any muffin:)

I actually almost always do the semi-tuck into lower rise pants, like BF jeans. (on things with higher rises, I do Angie's faux-semi-tuck into the belt because that's lower). I find that a semi-tuck into higher rise pants looks weird because the untucked and tucked parts have too large of a length difference. Also, I'm short waisted already and visible waist on high waisted pants makes it worse.
I love the faux tuck like Angie talks about. But I also faux tuck simply by draping the front a bit up over the belt, and if that doesn't work, I semi tuck. And I do it with low and mid-rise. Never tried it with higher rise pants. I don't think I would like that very much.

I don't semi tuck anything - I FAUX tuck with a top that as a welt over a belt. Does that make sense, Debs? And lower rises are actually the only way to go for me since that is what I wear most frequently. Although midrise works well too. Shannon manages that perfectly :)
I have fallen in love with the semi tuck Deb - it can hide all sorts of things (not that you need to hide anything).

As the others here have pointed out, semi tucking into low or mid rise works perfectly. Tuck away!

I semi tuck all the time into mid-to-low rise pants! I often do this to help show/define my waist a bit while also trying to give the illusion that my short torso is a little longer. I don't have belly issues (just thigh ones LOL) but I would think a semi-tuck would be a nice trick for disguising any concerns there.

I semi tuck in low rise pants. I only tuck a minimal amount at the front so that there is quite a lot of blousing over the waistband of the pants. I think it's about proportions. I couldn't semi tuck in high rise pants - it wouldn't look right for me!

I wear a semi tuck all the time with lower rise pants, I have the same issue as you with the higher rise (belly pooching over the front of the jeans) so I prefer a mid-ish lowish rise. Perhaps I'll get my head around the very high rise (to the belly button!) pants that are coming out now, but they still remind me of "mom jeans" (and I'm a Mom so I know them!) Funny how things come around again and again. I can't imagine semi tucking with them.

I was watching a video of Shania Twain the other day and she's wearing a denim cropped vest and very high rise jeans. She'd be right on trend now, and that video is almost 20 years old (1995).

Here it is in case you want to see who I'm talking about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N2k-gv6xNE

Hi Ladies,

I bought a lovely pair of slim straight leg pants that have been a wardrobe hole in my (mostly) work capsule for quite some time. The ones I have are summer weight, the new ones more transeasonal, and a dressier fabrication whereas the old ones are really a very casual fabric and tend to look a bit 'tired' by the end of the day.

Anyway.. to the point... they are a low rise, (for me, but maybe a mid rise is more accurate) very comfortable and smooth over the tummy, no tummy flopping over the waist band, but my question is this, is it ok to semi tuck into a lower rise pant?

I *think* it looks alright, but I notice in the majority of pictures in the blogosphere that we seem to semi tuck into a higher rise pant.

This may be a silly question, but are there any rules that I am not aware of? I trust you wise ones can enlighten me:)

Apologies, there is no photo but I just haven't had time to take photos of them yet.

Thank you
xxx Deborah
