Thanks for the link Laura. I will probably get some of those and am also looking for some cashmere turtlenecks for stand-alone tops in winter.

I am looking at bluefly.com's cashmere based on Angie's suggestion. Last year I bought the Design History wrap cashmere sweater and got LOTS of use out of it.

So maybe it will be worth a try to buy one or two of their turtlenecks. Anyone have experience with a cashmere turtleneck from bluefly.com? Any brand?

Thanks!

Laura - I'm glad you like the LE turtles. I saw those in the catalog and wondered about them. As it cooled off this week I remember how very cold my office building is and how badly I need some turtlenecks to keep from freezing my tooshie. I'll need to order ASAP as it looks like sizes are selling out quickly. All of the ones I want are backordered already.

Another Midwesterner who lives in turtlenecks here. Do you want layering turtlenecks or stand-alone ones, Debbie?

I bought 3 lightweight layering turtlenecks from Lands End this fall. I know, I know, but Lands End has a new fit that's cut longer and leaner and it's really nice. Plus. the quality is WAY better than JCrew, and the price is WAY better, and I wanted basic colors like navy, grey, black and ivory.

I'm a big turtleneck fan, living in Michigan it's a survival tool (much like you susand). I, too, would love to find a brand that is consistent...either one year they're perfect and the next too loose or tight, the ribbing changes, too bulky, it's always something. I have one fave from the Gap from a few years ago, but can't find the style anymore, I'm all ears from affordable suggestions.

Gap had some thin ones last year that worked well for layering and were very soft. They may carry them again this year?

I typically wear a turtleneck every day in the winter. My neck seems to get too cold if I don't. I do, however live in Minnesota where it gets super cold.

I stumbled upon YLF last Spring, and my wardrobe choices have really changed and broadened since then (THANKS A MILLION ANGIE!). I am not sure if I will still wear turtlenecks everyday or if I will be able to get away with layers to include a scarf.

I too am on the lookout for some nice quality turtlenecks to add to my closet.

Cheers!

Though they look awful on me (big bust & turtlenecks don't mix well), I do wear them in the winter for practical reasons. I have a couple of very soft wool/silk blend ones from BR from a couple of years ago that I love. I also have a wonderful red cashmere one from AT that I like to wear around xmas time. Sometimes it works for me to wear one under a blazer and with a long necklace to help elongate.

Angie seems like a big turtleneck fan so I'm sure she'll have some great suggestions.

I love the simplicity and classic look of a nice turtleneck and wondered if any of you have seen any really nice warm ones for fall/winter?

Any others here find that they are nice to have in really cold weather?

Thanks!
