Yes, Angie, thanks for the suggestion. To answer your question, in most styles I have tried to up size. I have a bit difference between in size between my butt and waist/higher hips and in most styles sizing up gives my enough fabric in the tush, but then I have a baggy saggy waistband that won't stay up and really large leg holes or extra "crotch" fabric.

Thanks for the suggestions, the Gap ones sound promising, but I am a little worried because I have a lot of behind!

I will also look into Soma.

Seems like it isn't just me that has issues with this, which is good to know! Too bad there isn't an easy solution.

I don't wear undies when I work out. It just doesn't...work. All of my shorts, capris, and pants have little triangle undies sewn right in.
As for the rest of my life, I don't seem to have the same issues as you do. I really do hate thong underwear, but sometimes that's just what I have to do (although I'll only do Hanky Panky). The Soma microfiber boyshorts have worked okay for me (the cotton ones had seams that would cause blisters), and otherwise I just get microfiber unders at Nordstrom Rack...usually DKNY brand.
Sorry that doesn't help.

I love these from the gap:
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=133271002

The ones I linked to are cotton, and I believe they make the same style in the supersoft modal fabric as well. They don't ride up in back on me at all, like many other underwear styles (boy shorts included) do. Make sure you get the "low rise hipster" and not the "ultra low rise" ones though (the ultra low ones do ride up plus the rise in back is REALLY low).

Try some of the panties from Soma. They seem to be cut for a little more behind than I have (I got the hips but a relatively small butt), and they have some very comfy fabrics, including some cotton ones.

Oh, and at the risk of TMI, I don't wear underwear with my yoga pants. I know, ew, but I've never found underwear that doesn't show through, and I'd rather just wash the pants after every wearing.

Can I just say how happy I am? I have never heard of other people having the same panty fit issues that I do? I thought I was the ONLY person that has the cheeky creep issues with boy shorts! I don't wear thongs because they are unsanitary and I feel like all my butt dimples are exposed. But most panties creep up my cheeks and give me dreadful VPL.

I did find some panties with good butt coverage at Fred Meyers from Vanity Fair. Coverage is good and they do stay put on my curvy rear all day. They are borderline granny panties so definitely not "cute" or sassy. My biggest issue with them is that they are synthetic and they do get sweaty. I'm in the midst of perimenopause and I find myself sweaty at frequent and odd times. But I have yet to find natural fibre panties with the same fit. The plus side of the synthetics is that they are smooth and clothing doesn't stick to them.

Oh yeah! sorry if I confused you Melissa. I definitely change/wear different undies to the gym and change afterwords. As far as the cotton/sweat issue, I meant I was having that problem in everyday life walking around town and especially sitting on the plastic chairs in lectures for several hours with the heat turned up too high!

Elly, I have the same trouble as you and the fuller coverage bottoms don't sit under my 'cheeks' but rather across them and then ride up. I think that's why I defaulted to thongs long ago. But I don't like most and actaully only now wear the modal ones from Target that don't (pardon me for being so graphic) creep in between your cheeks. I find that very uncomfortable and only wear ones where the back fabric lightly lays across and does NOT lodge itself you know?! I have some cotton/spandex boyshorts on order and I'll give a review when they come. They have a seam along the back that I hope will help prevent the creep.
For exercising, I wear the modal thongs (Target and/or Gilligan O'Malley). http://www.target.com/Gilligan.....ityReviews
I did buy a pair of synthetic fabric ones for exercising but they 'lodge', sigh, so they never get worn. I'd be interested to hear what you come up with! I'm staying tuned . . .

I will also be watching with interest--the only undies I've ever had fully cover my rear are granny panties. For now, I've just resigned myself to switching out my undies after the gym as they are totally sweaty.

I recently bought some super soft merino baselayers from a brand called Icebreaker on super sale. I am kicking myself for not also picking up some of their undies to try.

I'll be watching this thread, because I have similar issues with even 'full cut' boyshorts becoming 'cheeky shorts' on me.
I gave up wearing undies at the gym because of comfort issues.

All the recent or recovered posts on underwear (along with the not to distant blog post about boring basics) has brought up the unpleasant reality I have been trying to ignore. That and catching myself with bad VPL in public! (cringe)

I haven't bought underwear in a couple of years, and some of mine are much older than that. Other than the fact they are ratty, one of the brands I was wearing is no longer made (and hasn't for a while, I missed the boat on picking up any) and the other isn't made in a size larger than the one I am wearing and I feel like I could use it (it is a designer brand and they run small).

So, I am on the hunt for some new ones. I read the other thread, but nothing sounded like what I was looking for.

I want cotton, or modal-- some of the sweat glands on my body don't work elsewhere, so the undies area is one of the first places that displaced sweating goes so anything synthetic, including microfiber is miserable. The one exception are specialty wicking sports fabric, but those tend to be 13-30 dollars a pair!

I need a fairly low rise in the front, but lots and lots of bun coverage. I have a very ample rear and anything that sits on but not completely over the cheek creeps, cuts and leaves VPL. I often have the problem of needing a smaller waist size on the undies than the size I would need to cover my bum. Even full-coverage styles of boyshorts, ect. tend to become "cheeky" on me either through riding up and bunching or just not having enough fabric to cover my booty in the first place. Anything with a vertical seam up the crotch is just uncomfortable.

I tend to get horrible VPL, even with something like the "No Panty Line Promise" undies. I mean I get VPL through jeans! It think it has to do with how undie edges sit on top of and not over my cheeks.

I am not particular about the style (well, not grannies and not thongs).

Any recs ladies? Also, what undies do you wear when working out?
