You could always buy the size to fit hips and belt it at the waist to make a kinda voluminous tunic? x

I don't know that it's ever consistent within a brand, so I'd say to shop across brands and find fits that work for you. I've found tunics that fit my hips from Kenneth Cole and Michael Kors. Let us know what you find!

I'm also keeping an eye on this thread for info! I get both pulling/tightness at the hips and bagging at the waist because I am a pear with hourglass tendencies (I have a 13" difference between waist and hips, plus my waist is very high which throws the proportions off even more).

I try to look for things with an A-line cut, which tends to help, but obviously gives you a somewhat different look than a more straight cut.

Also, at places like H&M, sometimes you can get away with buying a "dress" to wear as a tunic - I think the things that are meant to be dresses (but are ridiculously short!) are sometimes cut with fuller hips.

I bought a cute button-down tunic at H&M yesterday (cardinal sin: I didn't try it on) and when I put it on this morning, found that the top fits great...but the bottom doesn't. It buttons, but it pulls and you can see the outline of my jeans pockets.

My question is, can anyone direct me to a brand that makes crisp tunics that will fit a pear's curvy hips? Or, is it wise to buy the size that fits the hips and tailor the top? I'm reluctant to make major alterations to a $25 H&M blouse, but maybe I'm not thinking about it the right way!
