Aha, good to know Alexis;-) Then I imagine the skirt will be a good length for you.

Darker vs lighter colours: I think generally fit and cut are more important than colours.
I would definitely try this skirt (in cocoa) with a ruffly blouse or cute top with fun details in black, but I'm guessing brighter colours (maybe a red or purple) could work too.

Hi thank you all for your lovely feedback. I'm personally more drawn to the first one rather than the second!

I like this cocoa colour more than the black but I'm not sure if it works because of my fair skin. Perhaps a darker top would create a contrast and look nicer? Plus are lighter colours generally more flattering than darker ones?

Just for Inge's info, I'm 5"1 not really tall !

Welcome to the forum, Alexis! The first one looks great, but steer clear of the second style. You need a pencil skirt that flows SRAIGHT from the hip down when you’re pear shaped – that one tapers in. Hope that make sense. And of course, A-line skirts are your friend.

Welcome to the forum Alexis!

I tend to agree with LegacyOfPearl, the first one could work. How tall are you by the way? I think a slightly longer one would give you a more 'fluid' line (but that's speaking from my point of view: 5"8';-)

I think the first style would be fine in a different color and it is easier to combine with various tops.

The second one is not the easiest style to pair with everything if you're pear shaped. I have a style similar the pencil skirt from the second link. It is a check fabric with black and teal. I loved the skirt when I purchased it but I now think that the check with the pleads make it a very eye catching skirt especially in the back. So the conservative in me stopped wearing it for a while. Then I found the perfect cardigan top for it. It is shorter in the front showing the nice bow and longer in the back nicely hiding the area that I didn't want to emphasize. I can only wear it with high heels on occasion. So even if you're pear shaped, it might look good with the right top. Hope this helps. I would love to hear what others think about it.

Hi I'm new to this forum! I really like the new trend of tulip skirts now but I'm not sure if they are flattering to a pear shaped figure like me.

I've seen some pretty ones like here and am tempted to get some! Should I?
