Short and Plus here. I go for the Jegging in a denim like fabric, and I have no trouble finding them. Hue makes some good ones, but I've also found them other places. My only trouble sometimes is that they are WAY too long, but if I bought them for tucking into my tall boots, I just cut off the excess at the ankle.
I think you're right about skinny's... sometimes in the plus sizes, they can be too wide at the top with too much tapering down the leg and this give a weird look.

Tip: I cut the top off a tube sock to put around my ankle to keep the pants smooth for tucking into boots. It also helps keep in place and pulling up.

i also agree with Krishnidoux's suggestion to try a rolled hem. i think that trying to wear jeans tucked into combat style boots would be uncomfortable because they do not have the same level of stretch as leggings. i, too, recently purchased combat boots and the 'jeans tucked in' look is not flattering on me. it made my legs look shorter and thighs look heavier.

greycat6 you said make sure the socks don't show abovethe boots and it made me think --- is it not instyle to wear the boot socks with boots anymore. I have a couple pairs that I wore with my taller boots in the past and have seen them with the military boots too. Whats the scoop on this look?

Hi, Daisy! I'm always excited to see another woman my age join the forum. Welcome! I'm a generic average-sized person, but not a huge fan of skinnies either. The blasted things ride down my backside whenever I sit or move, so I'm forever hoiking them up. I love Krishnidoux's advice above and have been experimenting with the boyfriend/rolled look with my Doc Martens. The fitted calf of the Docs adds structure (an Angie tip!) and the 20 year old in my life tells me I look age appropriate ;). Your boots sound like they might have a fitted calf, so the look Krishnidoux suggests should work nicely. Please let us know how you get on.

Welcome Daisy! Have you tried the bootcuts over the boots? I know there is a tuck-in-the-boot craze, but over the boot is a very nice look too. It elongates the leg since it is not cut off mid calf, and roomier jeans will allow to wear a higher hemline on your top, further elongating the leg. The resulting silhouette is different and refreshing.

Another solution is to roll your jeans hem, creating the current trendy cropped look. It allows to showcase the boots without having to tuck. However, I find the silhouette here more sporty. It goes well with chunkier sweaters and boxy jackets. Add a colorful scarf to cheer it up even more.

Surprisingly, military style boots can also look amazing with skirts.

To paraphrase what other members have said, try looking for a jean sold as a "jegging." You will need to wear it with a tunic (as you would with a legging). But it will fit smoothly under your boots. Try American Eagle. I love their jeggings (so comfy) and they offer some extended sizing.

As a fat woman it is actually tough for me to find skinny jeans that are tight enough to tuck in my boots. My best are a dark wash pair of Levis jeggings that I got from ModCloth. Most of my jeans, even if they aren't as skinny as the jeggings are all pretty slim fitting. Some sort of slim fitting bottom paired with a longer top is my single most flattering silhouette.

Good advice so far!

I would add that to help skinny jeans stay inside boots and reduce the baggy factor, pull your socks up over the bottom of the jeans. Make sure the socks don't show over the boots! This helps the bottom of the jeans stay in place.

By tucking bootcuts you are essentially making them into skinnies anyway, so you might as well go with the skinnies if you want the look. I wear skinnies almost exclusively (or boyfriend jeans, which I don't tuck) for this reason. The Gap legging jeans do pretty well.

I think the whole jeans-inside-boots thing is a direct result of the skinny jean's rise in popularity. To make that look work, you need jeans that taper and really hug your leg through the knees and calves, otherwise as mentioned above, there's just too much volume.

I have yet to find a pair of true skinny jeans worth keeping, because I really, really dislike pants made with spandex, and I have muscular calves and thighs, which means that skinny jeans that I can get onto my legs are usually too big in the waist. Pretty much all of my jeans are straight leg for these reasons, and I've more or less given up on tucked jeans. My preferred jeans all work better over ankle boots, either cuffed or uncuffed depending on the day and the rest of the outfit.

I do love having tall boots though. For above-the-knee skirts with leggings/tights, I find tall boots indispensable. (Back when I was a broke student, I didn't own any tall boots, and I would layer legwarmers over my tights and leggings to achieve the same visual proportion.)

Also--anyone have a good source for skinny jeans that don't bag at the knees after a couple hours? That's one of my major gripes with the style...

I agree with what Janet said.

One reason why your leggings may look better to you could be because they're lower contrast against the boots, just a thought. This means the color of the leggings is close in color/tone to the boots themselves, which means there is less contrast and demarcation between the legging and boot.

I would say try some skinny leg jeans (that fit pretty tight so you can get them tucked into the boots) and see what you think. Pay attention to the denim color vs the boot color too, as I mentioned. The lower contrast looks can be a bit more flattering bc they lengthen the leg line.

I am borderline plus size too so I feel your pain :)

Welcome! It's very tough to tuck bootcut jeans into boots and have them look right -- there is usually too much fabric around the knee to make this work. I think it will work much better with straights or skinnies. Even with straights and some skinnies, I end up having to fold the extra fabric at the hem flat around my ankles and tuck the hems into tall socks in order to get the legs to fit smoothly under boots.

just joined this group. I am 56, plus sized and am always trying to be stylish, yet don't want to look to "young" for my age. I hope this site will help with this. I just purchase some military style boots and I love them. I currently have some thicker leggings that tuck in nicely but need to wear some type of jeans with them also. I find the skinny jeans look so weird on my fat body, yet the leggings don't seem to look as bad ??!!?? is there any way to tuck in a bootcut jean in these or a regular calf boot- a way that actually keeps them in? Ive tried all different things, socks rolling the bottom and securing etc.

I did order some skinny or straight leg jeans. Im going to try again.

any suggestions would be appreciated.
