I think that a long lean torso is the perfect candidate for tucking tops into high waists.

I will leave the tucking to you all. I'm long legged, but very short-torsoed, with wide hips and big bust, and tucking into a high waist makes me look even squatter in the body. It's seriously frumptastic. I could tuck my tops when low rises were in, because it gave an illusion that my torso was a little longer and had a streamlining effect. I can't wear super high waists -- 11" is as high as I will go, and even a semi tuck looks really weird at that length.

The only time in recent memory I have done a full tuck is with my sarong pants, which sort of dip down a little in front, so they don't look so high rise -- they do come up higher in the back (I probably look like a house from the back in them, but at least I can't see it, LOL).

I prefer to tuck with all my jeans. I was never a fan of low rise jeans but for a while that was all that was available. My favourite pants at the moment have a very high rise.
I have tucked my top in the first two pictures (high rise pants) and left my top out in the third picture (mid rise pant).

Jess I would say high rise - over my belly button by an inch or so. I don’t do the super high rise - not my best look.

Some jeans do slip a lot and a belt helps keep them in place. Others not so much.

You looked long waisted from the pics, but that could have been the lower rise. A long torso is definitely the easiest, most conventionally flattering, shape for this look.
I have a high rise, high hips, curvy bum, but very short waist. 12ish inch difference between waist and hips. High rises fit better, and feel more secure, but tucking just emphasizes my much bigger hip area. A topper over would break up the horizontal line, but I don't want to wear a topper all day.
Tucking into skirts is not as bad on me, because you can't see the length of my rise.

Preppy pear-
If you have a long torso then it would make sense to feel like the waist is shorter, maybe that’s my case? In my post ‘tuck or untuck’ I have photos to show maybe you can tell if I am or not?
I’m sure you look great with a tuck did you post outfits showing it?

I am somewhat short-waisted, but longer in the rise. I wonder if you are also short-waisted for having a longer torso, since you feel tucking with with high rises makes you feel like your pants are up to your chest?

At first high rises and tucking felt and looked odd to me because it was such a change, but I adjusted quickly. I personally think it’s flattering (and if you aren’t short waisted, even more so in terms of traditional figure flattery).

Angie-
Thank you for sharing the links to read. They are helpful, but it’s always good to get current opinions as well since styles change constantly. Like you I tuck and untuck and wear different rises, more recently tuck since I’ve seen how well it looks with my outfits.

Sal- I love the way you tuck and your outfits! ❤️ Outfit 1,4,5,6, & 7 are my favorites, and where is the belt from outfit 7 from, I’ve seen them worn but never found out the brand.
I like how the shorter blouses hit right at the top of the jeans so you don’t tuck, which also is great to show off your belt if you don’t want to tuck.
Are all the jeans shown high rise or mixed rises? Higher rise tends to slide on me my waist is narrow so I have to belt.

Gigi-
If past outfits are with the high rise jeans they look fantastic on you, I wasn’t sure which ones were but mid and high rise are still fabulous looking.
I like to wear crop tops aswell, for any rise. I need more to show the belt as sometimes I don’t feel like tucking in.
I like your heel idea with crop jeans to even out the length of the jeans :)

Heathearnshaw-
Perhaps try posting photos here with tucks into jeans, from our view we can tell you what we think and I bet it does look good on you!

Tuning in for this. I am a rectangle with a large bust, short waist and tall hips. Long legs and long arms. (I sometimes wonder if I have the body of someone four or five inches taller than me but somehow my torso didn’t grow right). Any tight horizontal lines above my upper hip and below my rib cage (so basically where all rises — low medium and high — hit) tends to emphasize this blockiness. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to tuck in a way that flatters. I’m not terribly overweight but I’m definitely not thin and my waist is about 6 inches smaller than my hips so in THEORY a tuck should work. It just never looks good. Unless I can figure out a way to do it, the tucked trend can’t expire fast enough for me.

I have a short waist, slightly long rise, and long legs. At first I was hesitant to tuck with high-rise jeans, but for me, it is all in the style of the jean (why some work and some don't, I'm not sure).

I have a slight hourglass figure with a defined waist, and in general I look better tucking than not (if I don't define my waist, I can look dumpy).

I tuck probably most of the time, and when I don't, I am usually wearing a short top, almost a crop top (it will cover maybe only an inch of the jeans waistband).

I don't generally wear a belt when I tuck (back to your other thread ), I think because I feel that that emphasizes the fact that I am short waisted. I am more likely to wear a belt with mid- or low-rise bottoms.

Another thing I find helpful is to wear a pair of cropped jeans (to shorten the leg), and I almost always wear them with at least a low heel. I have some wedge espadrilles that are very comfy but still give enough height to help out the proportions.

I tuck now mostly. I feel it looks sharper and more modern mostly. I don't tuck sweaters but tees and blouses.

I do find an open jacket helps with flattery. Something to distract from horizontal lines.

I am short waisted and hourglass shaped so I do have weight on my hip area. Low rise jeans were awful on me for muffin top reasons. Mid rise worked if the fit was perfect but they did often slip down. I find high rise feels more secure. I am wearing belts more too - not always - but often.

Here are some tucked and untucked. I do not tuck the blouses in pics 2 and 5 but as they hit me quite high I don't mind it. If I do not tuck I prefer to wear a low heel.

The pics range over the last year.

Jess, you might want to read these posts and their comments since they get to the heart of what you'd like to discuss:

https://youlookfab.com/2019/06.....at-retail/

https://youlookfab.com/2019/08.....-years-in/

Long torsos, rises and waists, tend to like high rises and tucking. Those who are short in the waist tend to prefer wearing tops over bottoms. Those who do not want to draw attention to their midsection like to wear tops over bottoms.

I like to tuck and semi-tuck into high rises, and mid rises. I also like to wear tops over bottoms. I like it all! I have a regular length waist, and am short in the rise. I wear high rise, but not too high. 11 inches in front is my limit.

Clients from size US00P to US18 semi tuck and tuck with the best of them. Some are apple shaped and some are hourglass or pear shaped. It's a personal preference.

I was inspired by Angie’s blog on current jeans that are in to post this.

Angie mentioned that tucking high-rise jeans is what’s in style, but my question is will this look good for every body shape?

With any high rise i’m torn about how it looks on me. With a long, lean torso and long legs tucking often makes me feel like it gives the illusion my jeans are up to my chest. I have only recently begun tucking, and belt my jeans to give a nice focal point with the shirt tuck and feel it has been the solution to my high rise issue.

I still wear my low rise jeans because with my long torso and low rise it doesn’t give the appearance of being super high up on me, and I don’t have to tuck in unless I want to plus sitting lower means it’s easier to find that longer inseam I desperately need.

How many of tuck for high rise and how many don’t? If you dont tuck is there anything you would wear that could help you feel better with this look?
