I think you've gotten great suggestions here about shortening the skirt in 1 - I really, really love 2 and 3, although 3 might need a lighter shoe on fair you. Please post again when you've tailored the skirt.

Wow! Thank you for your very helpful advice here! Your sharp eyes are opening mine!

First off, yes, I am shortening the yellow skirt this week.

Jenava, I like your suggestion of belting the coral tee... I had actually tried it just before taking the picture, but wasn't confident enough. I think that once the skirt is shorter, it will look nice.

Beth Ann, thank you for your leggings suggestion witht he blue tunic! That is such a good idea!

Christieanne, you have a point with the shoes. I was trying to make these very European 70's style sandals work (they are soooo comfy) by contrasting them with the yellow, but a nude footwear would give the skirt a different vibe. It might actually work better with this specific skirt. And another good point about the darkness of the second outfit. I had not thought about this. But so true! Now that I am back from Morocco, I keep forgetting that summer wear here is special, because summer is so short. In Morocco I acquired a lot of darker light-wear clothes, because you end up wearing it throughout the year. So it's a good reminder from you. Thank you!

Nodded along with everyone. Shorten the first skirt and you're good to go. I suspect, though the tucked-in white shirt is a favourite, the longer rose tops will work too once shortened, being more in balance.

I think the rose top in #4 looks great with the yellow skirt (good idea on shortening to keep it form overwhelming you) but should have a lighter or more neutral shoe - a nude or light tan to keep it all balanced.
I like skirt #2 on you - looks like a lot of dark for summer weather but I could see it paired like that with boots for fall.

I also love the first skirt with a tucked in top and contrasting belt. I agree that it would be even more fab shortened.

I love the length of the darker skirt on you, and think the yellow skirt would look great a little shorter than the length of the dark one.

Love outfit 2 where the skirt is belted!

You've gotten good feedback already, KD. I also like the skirt (shortened a bit) in #2 with the white shirt, and the belted blue on blue in 5 and 6. I like the shirts in 4 and 5/6 also, and think they would look marvelous with other bottoms -- perhaps slim trousers or leggings for 5/6 and a shorter skirt for #4.

Good luck with SMC! You have such lovely style and a dancer' bearing.

I think the shape of the first one is too straight to work at this length, so I am pleased you're shortening it. I love it with the rose color! Can you try belting that and leaving off the necklace?

The blue I like with the belted shirt, but I think the shoes are too strappy. I think this would look cute with heeled booties, maybe?

I think Anna is onto something. Shortened a bit (especially the pale one) they might work well for you. I like the white shirt tucked into the neutral. I can see these working for your teaching capsule.

The first skirt could work if you shorten it as Anna suggests and I do like it with the white shirt. To me the second skirt is fine as is.

I like the blue one but agree with Anna that the first one seems too long - it doesn't taper and overwhelms your petite frame.

I need your opinion!
I am trying to SMC (shop my closet) for June as I will be super busy teaching and travelling around town in various places to teach. I don't have much time to shop, and I want to save my money a little. Here I am trying two midi skirts I'v had in my closet for... (many years), but barely never wear. They are a classic cut. I don't know why I never wear them. I am trying to make it work, maybe if I try real hard they will do?

(ahem... sorry for the pics, I have no makeup and my hair is not done... hope you don't mind).

Pic 1: My yellow Tabi skirt. I like it because of its drape, its weight, its unconventional yet somewhat neutral colour. Here it is unstyled. Does it fit me? How would you style it?

Pic 2: An attempt at styling it.

Pic 3: Another attempt. Channeling my Mom's snubby French friends in garden parties circa 1982... I don't think I will wear this.

Pic 4: Same as above, except with a tee instead of a sweater. A small improvement.

Pic 5: My blue skirt. It's vintage, A-Line Jeager. Here with a blue tunic and belt. This I might be more likely to wear.

Pic 5: Blue skirt, tunic tucked and a necklace.

Thank you for looking, and for your brutal opinion!
