And I'm happy at the moments with the coats that I can wear early fall.

I hear you rachylou with über hipster - and that's not me

I've ordered a couple of jean jackets now so waiting for them to see how they feel!

On the one hand, I really like it. It’s jazzy. On the other, it does look like a sleeping gown. I think it’s über hipster is the thing...

It’s a lot of coat. Very pretty print.

Another vote for a denim jacket esp in white which would be summery. Or maybe a midweight cotton or linen cargo jacket in olive, camo or navy that can transition into fall.

I really like it worn open. I think it would work really well with solids. I'd wear it with dresses, pants, crops, etc.

But I think you are asking it to do too much if you want it to work with everything. You probably need something solid to go over different prints.

If it's in your budget to have 2 items, I'd play around in your closet to see if you have the pieces to make a few outfits with it. And then, if it's useful and makes you happy, keep it and continue the search for something else.

How about a lightweight cargo jacket? They can be an alternative to a jean jacket:

Thanks SO much everyone. I’ll definitely keep looking. I’m neither very crisp or very boho (as 3style recommended could work, which makes sense I think), and I’d want it to work with much of my wardrobe, which I doubt it will... too bad with such a great print!

I do have an old denim jacket, but it’s getting too small. Might be the time to look for a new one, good ideas Joy and Cardiff girl!

I d keep looking .l think that although the print is gorgeous it does suggest dressing gown.Have you discounted denim jackets?I always find them useful in the summer,or how about a shorter belted kimono to avoid the comparisons with nightwear.

I would try it specifically with the outfits that you’d wear on chillier summer days. Then decide if it fills the right niche. I am worried that the print will be hard to match with other items. Then again, it might work over cropped jeans and a simple white woven top.

To me it looks too much like a robe. How about using a linen or chambray straight button front dress worn open as a duster? For me the secret of a successful summer topper is no lining, but it may be warmer here in summer than in Sweden. Is a denim jacket too warm?

I think that for the kimono not to look like it belongs at home, all of the other elements need to either be very crisp and structured (like traditional office clothing) or very boho and flowing with lace and ruffles and so forth. I feel like it makes a basic casual dress seem even more casual, which isn’t what you want. Summer weather toppers is probably my largest clothing category, because they get dirty or damaged easily and because you see more of the underneath outfit so it helps to have a variety. But, they don’t “go bad” very often if you stick with basics.

For example I have a lightweight yellow raincoat. I don’t often need that kind of visibility, but sometimes it is a useful safety measure for fog or walking in the dark outside in areas where people might not expect pedestrians.

I like kimonos- so I like it. However it’s probably only going to work with solid colour garments imho. I’ll see if I can find some options......

I don’t know, I would feel like it should go with what I’m wearimg and that would be hard to do. I stick to lightweight cardigans in the summer for extra warmth. They’re easy to carry if I don’t need them. But i get that you might want something with more structure than a sweater.

Would love some help! I don’t have any proper summer coats, and would love something for those chillier summer days. I have a thin, longer black coat that works for transitioning into fall, but it doesn’t feel very summery.

Ordered a bunch of coats online but none seem to work properly... I like the idea of a kimono coat, and the one I like best is that style. But does it look too much like a sleeping gown? And can it be too tricky to match with printed items?

I just threw it on over the dress I’m wearing today. Do you think it’s worth trying it with other pieces, or should I keep looking straight away?

Would love to hear all your honest thoughts!
