Thanks, everyone! I like the styling ideas and the insightful comments. The reason I posted was because I kept putting the skirt and the shoes in the shipping box for returns and then taking them out - the skirt looks so good on Kari, Zap, and others, and the shoes would be good with it.

After looking at the photos and reading your comments, I figured if I return both, I won't have to worry about not having black shoes to go with this skirt. Off they go back to Nordstrom.

Makrame, I love the skirt but am not sure you have nailed the styling yet. The skirt looks lovely on you though.

Kari, also has this skirt and I wondered if her pics might provide some inspiration. I like her pattern mixing and use of color. Do keep playing with the skirt as I think it's suits you and you will definitely have the right pieces to go with it.

I like the skirt on you, but I believe you could pair it with something that has a more similar value (lighter). This would create a more harmonious silhouette. If the top is lighter value, the jacket still can be dark if you have dark shoes. I would also like to se a more waist-defining look. To me, a pencil skirt is about the feminine silhouette, and then the waist should be focused more, especially when you have a beautiful narrow waist like you do. Try tucking or belting the top. The shoes are very pretty, but if you don't love them, you will be better off returning them and looking for something else like others have mentioned already.

I think that the other pencil skirts - in #s 2 & 3 look much better on you than the chevron. There is something about the mix of chevrons that I think takes away from the long and lean look that should come "naturally" when wearing a pencil skirt! I'm not sure about the shoes - its hard for me to see the details. Do they have bows on them?

I actually really like the skirt on you, but you need to feel the love. If you're still on the fence about those shoes, then I'd say return them. You've been waffling long enough, don't you think? I think the larger bow if throwing you.

I like the skirt and if it fits well on top (which we cannot see in the pic) I would keep it. I would keep mine if it was not too tight in the hips. I think it has great opportunities for styling with solid ti=ops and jackets and very different from your other skirts. However if you don't like it or have any doubts you will wear it that would be a no-go for me.
I like the shoes but I like wedges in general and classic pumps are not really my thing

The chevron skirt is nice but I don't love it. My mantra has always been to trust my instincts; if I'm having doubts about something or trying to justify why I ought to keep it, that item usually ends up at the back of my closet regardless of how much others may like it.

Same with the wedge shoes. Buy them if you love them, otherwise send them back and look for something that you adore.

I think the skirt fits very nicely on you and its different enough. As far as the grey boots with it, I do like how it looks. You need to make the top a bit lighter if you want to make the look more harmonious. Pop a yellow top and you are in business.

I do not like the wedges but that style of shoe is not really my cuppa. I used to have similar shoes and gave them all away. I'm into a bit of more edge with my footwear since I tend to be so classic in my clothing choices.

I love the shoes too, and agree that the boots don't go well with the chevron skirt. I think that skirt looks good on you, but you are the one who has to decide if it's superfluous or not.

I like the chevron skirt on you Makrame but it sounds like you're not in love with it. The seamed pencil skirt and denim skirt look great on you. I do think the chevron skirt is different enough to justify keeping it - but only if you think you'll wear it.

LOVE the wedge shoes!

In photo 1 I love the fitst two looks.

The boots look lovely, but detract from the skirt in the third look.

So I also got the chevron skirt at NAS and am trying to decide whether to send it back. I figured that it would be a nice way to complement some black jackets that I am having trouble styling but I am not sure how much I like it.

I also have the Halogen seamed skirt in grey (shown in #2) and purple and the JCrew denim skirt so I am trying to figure out if the chevron skirt is different enough to justify keeping. I am also still on the fence with the black Cole Haan Air Monica wedges (shown in #1, 2 and 4) - I would like to get a nice pair or black pumps or wedges in addition to the grey Air Tali wedge (in #3) but I am not sure these shoes are "it". What do you think?
