Bonnie - I do love how fun the wrap is too. Thank you for the feedback.

Shevia - thank you!

Firecracker - I think you have definitely pin pointed why I didn't feel so good in the wrap look (apart from the double denim, which I can easily fix) - this does have a different feel to the more tailored and dressy clothes that I like to wear. Definitely something to ponder, because it may be a question of getting used to something new.

All of these outfits are fantastic. I especially like the wrapped denim, but it's quite different in feel from the other two (equally fabulous) outfits. So I can see how you might not be as comfortable in it. Generally I try to very my denim shades a bit when I'm wearing denim on denim--blue denim shirt with white jeans, for example--but I don't see yours as being too close in this picture. And I think it's back to being in style anyway!

Well, I love it all. I think the matching denim is not a problem because of the the impact that the wonderful red Olive Oyl jacket and fab boots make. You look great in the long vest outfit and the white pants are stunning.

You slayed it. 1 is an amazing rendition and the long gilet is super fine. I'd really like to see the gilet with the pants in 6, see how that works.

kkards - thank you for the feedback. I love the gilet, it makes everything I put it with that much better. I have Angie and YLF to thank for this piece that is a brilliant wardrobe refresher.

April - unfortunately, it was too hot to wear the wrap outfit, so I just tried it on to see if I could make it work. To be honest, I also worry about how fussy this could be. I am not the sort of person who can throw on a fab scarf and it stays put, looking immaculate all day, they move on me too. I do like the idea of this outfit for travelling, particularly in a plane where I often get cold and am not moving around much.

Smittie & LisaP- thank you for the honest feedback. I felt that it was too much like a denim suit and would definitely swap out the jeans for a different colour (probably black or white). This did feel 'matchy' and I all I needed for my denim to be acid wash and I would be reliving some of my 80's fashion nightmares! Glad you like the black and white outfit - the striped pants feel like track pants, so great for running around on the weekend.

Angie - what gorgeous comments, you have literally made my day, I cannot stop smiling! Thank you, I love being part of YLF and you are a wonderful inspiration.

JAileen - Olive Oyl is so much fun and this wrap is always a good piece on a cold winter's day (so I have a few months until then)!

Summer - I have had the red boots for a couple of years and not really worn them nearly as much as my other boots. Suz looks so great in her red boots, so I am hoping this fall and winter to get into them much more. I am glad that you like them.

TracyLiz65 - Thanks for the feedback and I will wear the wrap with monochrome outfit - it is nice to have a variety of toppers, and if I hadn't posted these, I am sure that I would not have thought of this combination, I often default to my dressy puffers and then feel a bit bored in winter that I always look the same.

Brooklyn - you are too kind and glad you like the gilet, as I see this being worn a lot over Autumn and Winter. Whilst I am sad that you have a denim jacket with tags on, I am glad that I am not the only one that these don't work for! I don't like denim on denim on me either. I see it on JCrew and think it looks fab and then when I try it, it feels flat. I think the red boots could be fun with jeans and the gilet.

JenniNZ - you are very wise to know your style and not buy something that is not you. I am glad that you like the last outfit, I wasn't too sure about the pants (given my pear shape, I often wear dark bottoms) - but I think the stripe helps to make them more slimming. Anyway, I do like the concept of 'just flattering enough' because it gives me the freedom to wear clothing that I enjoy and not always be tied into wearing what is most flattering.

Well you look amazing in them all. Agree with Angie re all she said. Denim jackets... like you I've read those essentials lists every woman should have, but have never actually owned a denim jacket. I just know I would not wear it. I like my jackets to feel soft and a denim one wouldn't. For that same reason I have owned very few blazers in my life and currently none. So I like the first look but agree with smittie that it's because the red wrap is camouflaging the denim suit. The Olive Oyl wrap is so great plus the red boots brooch plus the actual boots and the racing stripes pants. The last outfit is in fact my fave.

I have to gush over the gilet outfit first. Wow! YLF! And those black and white trousers are just amazing on you. You have such unique pieces.
On the ensemble: I am not huge fan of denim on denim, which is the main reason I also don't tend to wear denim jackets. The other is comfort. I think they feel a bit stiff. (I have one sitting in my wardrobe. Tags still on. Sigh.) But, anyhow, I do think the outfit would be more interesting if the 2 denims were different shades. Because the red of the boots and wrap are similar, it would make for some more colour variation and depth. Or you could try a pants+denim jacket combo. The silhouette is great on you.
And I love those red boots.

I think this denim suit is Not working, but the wrap is doing a good job camouflaging it! I think if you mix denim shades, it would be better. So yes to indigo or white or light blue. My favourite d-on-d combo is very light denim and mid-tone denim.

That's just me though. Denim on denim is kind of a rule-breaker anyway, so you need to do what you feel comfortable with.

Love your red boots and I agree with kkards that the racing stripe pants are amazing!

Bijou, I'm curious about your experience of actually wearing this outfit (as opposed to how it looked -- it looked terrific, BTW.) Did you find it cumbersome, or bulky, or like the wrap had to keep being adjusted?

I've been trying to imagine its practical side and those were the issues I thought of. So, what was it like to wear this in real life?

I loved the ensemble as inspiration to get me to wear a denim jacket that for some reason just does not get worn much. Bought as an item that is often on lists of 'wardrobe essentials' - but clearly not for me.

Given I was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and boots today - I thought I would try on the jacket and wrap to see if I could make it work. It was actually too hot for this outfit, so a separate photo of what I wore out and about (gilet weather), and then WIW out to dinner (because I do wear pants and jeans lots too, I just seem to always post my dress outfits).

With the wrap combination, I am unsure that this is the right combination for me. As my jeans and denim jacket are the same colour, it almost looks like a denim suit. I would appreciate your feedback on whether white, black or dark indigo denim would be a better choice.

Photo 1 - the complete ensemble
Photo 2 - My wrap (I have had this for about 8 years and love Olive Oyl - I do remember Popeye cartoons_
Photo 3 - denim jacket, complete with red boot brooch
Photo 4 - red boots that I wore
Photo 5 - jeans and t-shirt with my gilet
Photo 6 - casual dinner outfit (Zara sweater and Witchery pants)

All suggestions much appreciated!
