Yay on the jeans. Yay on the hair. As Angie might say "not conventionally flattering" but so cool girl.

I really like #1 and #2. These are different jeans and I think you just have to kind of embrace it. A lot of the images of them online do wear them with the waistband covered, so if you were only going to wear them that way, it's not a problem at all.

Remember my Phillip Lim wrap pants in light blue. Ultimately the consensus was to wear them with the waistband covered (the waist was super high). I think the effect on the pants was still full realized without waistband exposure.

AG - sure, chase your joy! But also do check out the other r13 styles. Yoox often has them for $ - not right now, but it's always worth checking.

I do mean what I say when I talk about other body shapes. I could not make a similar pair of pants by Vince work (remember?) because of the fabric waddage. As another example, a friend of mine is tall and has a classic body - by classic, I mean the ones you see in classical Scandinavian paintings, with smaller breasts, swan waist, hips, and a belly. She can wear things I can't. She is also a fashion designer, and when I tried on one of her jackets she was quick to point out that "only someone with an ass and hips" could wear it, because the blouson back balanced out a tush. Without a tush of my own, the jacket ballooned out like a butt on my back! Luckily she had one with a more tailored back, which looked great on me - but NOT on the ass-and-hips girls.

It's OK for something you like not to work, and it's OK to wear it anyway. If you're going for figure-flattering, IMO these pants just aren't your babies. If you're going for "I love these," then nothing we say matters! Wear them however you like!

And to clarify, I don't always disregard YLF advice. It's just not the dominant factor in how I dress. *shrugs*
Thanks, ladies. I truly appreciate all of your eyes and your honesty! No returns in this case - I took a BIG chance.

Angie, you are right, of course - no consensus on these. And that's okay. It's an experiment, after all. And wearing them just makes me feel happy. I want them to look as good as they can, but I know they are not everyone's cuppa. :)

IK, to me these are a different version of those jeans I sent you - not in fit, but in a certain weirdness factor that appeals to me. And actually, in this case, I'm taking inspiration from you and your recent comment that you tend to disregard YLF advice!

I loved them from the start, and LOVE #2!

I'm a hectic spanner - and much prefer them with a little visible waistband. They look intentional and fashion forward that way.

Una, you will not get consensus on these denim darlings. Just warning you :)
Do you love these jeans? if so, i think they look best in #1. I also agree that they look better with the waistband covered.

I know you got these from eBay so you can't return. I have no idea if you can resell for most of your money back. Your call on this, but I sort of agree with Ornellia. They seem to have a lot of obstacles to wearing. If you love them, the obstacles won't matter. If you only kind of like them, they may become orphans.

I guess I don't understand why you so badly want these to work. Honestly I think you have stumbled across a pair of jeans that does not work for rectangles. All the extra fabric at the pelvis just clumps the eye there IMO - I think with a different body shape this would balance out. It's not about taller, it's about waist dip above the waistband.

R13 does make other styles! I own and love them. I suggest you try those.

(Ooooo, I just lost the whole response, boooo.)

Ok, again... I have obviously missed the previous round related to these. Are you still at K/R stage? I see the tag, so I'm assuming you are.

They are quite unusual and I can see how they might work for you for that very reason, but I'm not 100% sold on them. Outfit #1 does look best to me as well, because a) it's interesting in itself, and b) the waistband is covered.

But, if you need to think of covering the waistband to actually get a happy outfit with this pair, I think it's one more (big) thing to think about when styling them and I would be inclined to "R" - when I think back about your boots epiphany, I think you want it simple.

Okay, I experimented with these a bit. I know they did not get a lot of love from everyone, but I've tucked the hems to be a better length here and worn real booties. I've also discovered that because of the funky button/zip, these look better with the waistband covered - you still get the slouch/xover effect without the homemade grandpa pants look. These tops aren't necessarily the right style, but what do we think of the length? Any improvement? Or is it pointless to cover the waistband?

Honest feedback welcome! I may not have the stature to pull these off, though I think of myself as tall and willowy - in reality, more like a hobbit.
