I like the fushia too!
I agree that a looser white T, and maybe a belt could be a consideration?

My only suggestion -- do you have a lighter leather jacket to wear with the light wash jeans and fuchsia accents?

I'm loving all this London travel talk and your posts. I would love to see Book of Mormon while in London and hope it's still there; if not, there will others.

You look great in your very casual wear and your google inspiration is so useful as you plan your trip. I think since you know your friends' style and choice of activities, that you've got a really good handle on how and when to dress up and down.

I just read your Leith thread and that's a phenomenal pick, which can be enjoyed so many ways. Have fun, Jenava, and I'll be reading and watching.

My memory of London is that people tend to dress very sharp. Nevertheless I like the idea of this look but I think I would prefer a crisper white shirt. Like a mandarin collar button down or something? I also second Suz's warning to check the weather! Spring has not sprung yet.

Suz, I am headed off to bed and have a day of back to back meetings AGAIN tomorrow, but I definitely would love some recommendations. We are going to try to squeeze into Pompeii (appears sold out ATM for the times we can make it) and the Victoria and Albert museum. And I'd like to go to Bath on Saturday. We leave in two weeks. This would be the MOST casual outfit I would bring...and good call on the laces...

rae and Mo, thanks for the vote of confidence. This is super casual for me, and honestly I did feel like I was in a bit of a costume when I ran out in it to buy cat food earlier. (my life, gotta tell ya, so BRILLIANT these days!)

Ooh, I like it! Kind of an Ali G/Lady Sovereign street style vibe. You look English already IMO.

My first thought was a fun long necklace, but you mentioned a crossbody, which will cover the same area.
I can't say anything about English pubs but anything goes in our Tahoe pub!

This is a fun look, Jeneva, and of course I am all over the touches of fuchsia!

I've just come back from London. It was galleries, sightseeing, pubs, restaurants, lots of theatre, tons of walking, a bit of shopping....and very, very, VERY cold!!!!

I hope, for your sake, that the weather will have taken a very big turn by the time you get there. But my advice is watch the long range forecast. If trends continue, you would not be warm enough in this outfit. In a typical late April, early May - yes. This year? Not so much.

Truly -- I layered a cami, a silk or cotton or knit shirt, a wool sweater, a leather jacket and a wool coat every day -- plus tights under my wool pants -- and I was still chilly. And I'm not a person who runs particularly cold. Obviously, there is no way it will be that bad when you get there. But even so.

Okay, now that the warning lecture is out of the way, in terms of actual street fashion, I didn't see a whole lot because everyone was bundled up in their black, navy, or charcoal winter coats and tall boots. That was interesting, by the way -- how many tall boots I saw. Far more than I'd expected. Might have had something to do with the weather, of course.

The other thing I saw a lot of was snazzy sneakers. So athletic shoes will actually work pretty well in that context, expecially made intentional, as you've done here.

I personally wouldn't feel dressed up enough in an outfit like this for most of the sightseeing I did...but then, it wasn't really sightseeing -- more museum-hopping. And also, I'm always looking for excuses to get a little more dressed up.

I saw denim of all washes, so I wouldn't worry about that so much.

Can you do something to those laces like what Angie did with hers in today's blog post? I don't know if it is possible with that type of lace, but it would look a bit neater (and more intentional).

I hope you have a fabulous time! If you want a couple of restaurant and pub recommendations, PM me!

Oh, I wouldn't wear this anywhere where you would normally dress up. This would be sight-seeing and pub crawling only. I highly doubt we will be doing any clubbing...the thought makes me chuckle, actually. The couple we are going with are very dressed down (jeans, gear shoes and fleece), and I doubt we will go anywhere with a dress code outside of the theatre.

Ceit, that is interesting because the photos in my inspiration file are actually from London fashion week and there was quite a bit of this exact denim look (albeit, with heels).

Last time I was in London, light wash denim wasn't popular. Hoodies are kind of frowned upon too -- a couple clubs and places we went to had a no hoodies no sneakers policy, but if you have another outfit for those types of places you should be fine.

Oh, and for a purse I'll likely wear a cross-body LAMB small silver pouch bag that has a wide black strap (sorry Angie, I know you hate cross-body bags, but I just cannot handle a clutch for sight-seeing!)

Hi ladies - I am headed out to London in a few weeks on a vacation. We will travel with out lovely neighbors. We'll go to some museums, visit many a pub, and go to the matinee of Book of Mormon, with dinner after at a gastro pub.

For the trip, I've been casting around checking out London street style blogs. I think I've settled on a more casual and highly layered look for London - boyfriend jeans and sneakers or oxfords as well as a baseball (aka bomber) jacket I've got on order. I also have the Leith slouchy pants on order, arriving tomorrow. For anything mildly dressy, like going to see the play, I plan to wear my black midi tube skirt and tall flat boots with cardigan and oversized scarf.

I created a google presentation for my inspiration here.

Here, I am trying out a casual layered look - boyfriend jeans, sneakers, hoody and moto jacket.

I realize that this look isn't everyone's cup of tea. I am looking for suggestions on how to improve this, because this type of outfit is new to me. I'm giving you the "hood up" and "hood down" version because I think you can see a bit better how the jeans fit. These are replacements for the ones I initially tried a few weeks back that just weren't slouchy enough for me. I also really like the lighter wash.
