It’s hard to get “ sneakers” especially anything intended as fashion- y, without toe boxes that are too flattened or even tapered, and unforgiving in smooth leather. I was always trying to pull them skyward. This year I bought flare ponte-ish pants from Boden and love the drape and comfort.</p> <p>Part two: I took two long-sleeved dresses and made them short sleeve, and wore them as summer tunics/dresses. I really don't wear dresses in the winter, but I didn't want to give these up.</p> <p>Part three: A few years ago I bought suede sneaker/boots from Ugg and they were wildly successful. I think for these pants, I’ve focused on footwear without any shaft of hem width of the pants- they don’t really tuck into boots nor stay put over boot shaft. But, I do want to use boots or boot- adjacent footwear in winter as a change from sneakers. My feet are rebellious so I tend to not wear even fairly comfortable boots NICE boots as an everyday thing, for extensive errands. I just reach for comfortable soles&amp; laceups . They even have a little cuff, which for me actually adds some balance. But they’re getting a bit pulled at the pockets, and somehow lol a bit twee ( or something) if I try to wear them that way again. Partly, I can’t do chunky loafers ( won’t stay on if sized for feet problems), and didn’t like regular loafers or Oxfords, or just something. </p> <p>But I recently tried a sporty look, with chunky sneakers and lower- hip- length ( not tunics or dresses) sporty tops, like hoodies or quarter zips, and really liked it. A fluid heavier sweater would probably also work. </p> <p>To me it gave kind of a legging look but more balanced for me, plus they are real pants so don’t have to get especially long tops ( just use my longest regular), and the running shoes do the proportions thing. So all the parts are super comfortable. </p> <p>If I go sock-less ( no-show) , which is a good look with sneakers, it could be ankle -chilly for the ponte material , which is transitional/ cool weather, but the length is such that I can wear a black thin sock or try something fun. </p> <p>I didn’t HAVE to re- purpose these to have something to wear, but I like how they don’t ride up my calves like many joggers do, and the fabric gives a crisper look while still being very comfortable. </p> <p>Maybe you have an item you re- worked from its original use, into a new type of outfit ? </p>
