I’ve booked a flight, an SUV, the first two nights at hotels, and a 12’ truck with cruise control and a ramp, all for less than it would have cost to have them bring it up. I fly into the SE part of the state, visit a couple consignment/used furniture stores &amp; a boutique hotel, drive across the state to get my moving truck and drive home. Do you? </p> <p>Janet, during the 8 years we lived in Tampa, I said many times that we were going to go to Miami, but then never made it. The long drive was generally a contributing factor.</p> <p>I nearly said that the cold is good for me because I only have winter clothes. Then I remembered that cache of summer things I forgot in a hotel drawer last fall. Jenn pointed out that it was a pretty neat little travel capsule. It’s cold in Miami today — the temp dropped like crazy last night! I could have it brought up here by next week or I could fly to Florida, rent a truck, spend an afternoon at the beach, hit up some secondhand furniture shops (they are not set designers’ shops, but they are amazing, because of all the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th….homes some truly wealthy individuals have in the area*), drive back here and come out ahead financially.</p> <p>*ETA, if you know of good ones, please post it here! </p>
