AndiB, they (the BR trouser jeans) are tight but they stretch quite a bit. Except the waist, but most bottoms are like that anyway. Really, there was a lot of stretch going on within less than an hour of putting them on. Enough that they were quite comfortable within less than an hour (could sit, bend, do jumping jacks etc no problem but still looked good) -- it's just the waistband remained snug enough I was getting that weird "snake that ate the crocodile" look (darn apple figure). If you are a 0.7 hip/waist ratio these are good.

I am actually contemplating buying another pair of the CoH Huttons, next size up, and having the flare tamed a bit by the tailor.

I do like the BR trouser jeans I just got yesterday but ....I am afraid I just don't love them. They are serviceable but yeah... IK... I am with you here. Once you go premium it is really really hard to go back.

It's weird though... I tried on a BR trouser jean that had tapered leg at the store, more like a skinny... and the denim was different, it was lighter than these I just got in the mail. I prefer the lighter weight denim. The CoH Huttons are lighter weight too. I just think they flow and drape better, and look and feel more trousery.

Then again if I just gave up chips for Lent I could drop a couple of pounds and be back in the jeans already in my dresser drawer! *sigh*

I so love trouser jeans and look for them all the time, hard to find, delighted that they might be coming back. I found a great pair (two actually, one in a denim and one in a brown/gold) from Ann Klein on clearance at Macy's maybe last year. I wear them all the time. I just (with much excitement!) followed Angie's link to the BR site and my first reaction upon looking at the pix was: so tight! I agree with a previous poster that to me trouser jeans are meant to NOT be tight, and should be perfect for pretty pairs. The reviews on the BR site confirmed my instinct, most all noted how tight they were (and how the cut had perhaps been modified from previous styles?) i do have a couple pairs from a few years back that alas no longer fit. but I am hanging on to them!!!

Absolutely love trouser jeans, and never completely stopped wearing them (that is until my CoH Huttons became too small and I didn't have another pair in my closet;-) I second Shiny's suggestion for trying those, Dana, although the flare might be a little too wide to your liking. I recently bought the BR Indigo Denim Trousers Angie recommended in a blog post, and am very happy with those. Great fit and length.
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=560565002

I'm a purely high-end denim gal. Anyone spotted any from Rag and Bone, AG, J Brand, etc.? I find those find my hipless frame best.

Ideal pair: Straight-leg trouser cut in a soft fabric!

Perhaps you missed the info in my daily blog posts. Yup. Trouser jeans are back already.

I mentioned trouser jeans making a comeback last year:

http://youlookfab.com/2013/12/.....an-outfit/

Have had these BR trouser jeans on my top picks lists a few times. Too bad the photos do not do them justice:

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=936142012

And mentioned widening hems and trouser jeans again in both trend posts:

http://youlookfab.com/2014/01/.....ring-2014/

I have two fairly recent pairs from Ann Taylor (not my usual go-to for jeans, to be sure) because I liked them well enough to duplicate.

I see a fair number on eBay, IK -- do they have to be brand new? Some of them are brand new, but not all. You have to look carefully, whether retail or eBay, since a lot of places don't seem to understand the distinctions among flares, wide-legs, and trouser jeans and use these terms interchangeably.

WHBM has something they call "trouser" but they don't have the classic trouser rear pockets. Same with 7FAM. To my eye, they're just "non-skinny" regular jeans.

But Eddie Bauer has this in two washes plus white: http://www.eddiebauer.com/cata.....ame=DENIM- Now THOSE look like pukka trousers.
