My family is from the West Indies... They basically live in shorts and thong leather sandals. But then dinner dress is also always required, esp for resorts/beach clubs. I personally refuse to wear shorts; I stick to skirts... And prefer to look like a librarian: short sleeved white shirts, trim skirt. But I cave a lot and wear knit short sleeves. I love your color scheme! Layers are important. I have been to several tropical locations where it's hot during the day and it cools down significantly at night.
