Carla--you know, I am not sure I have ever really been into British fashion, but I love the mod movement. American and Italian for me!
Dee--interesting, I wonder how far back it goes. Yes, these videos are mostly comforting to me. After watching the one I featured, I might just end up spending a few more bucks on a candle than normal.
Jaime--they do always say the French are great at skin care. Since I don't buy the products they recommend, I try to just remember to use real face cream, etc. I like this channel because the clothing is just slightly what you would not expect.
Suz--I also like to use many journals, but I have one blank one that is "anything goes" at all times--in case I have a thought or errand, or whatever. The rest of the time it is for scheduling, listing, etc.
Angie--cute notebooks! I am also a paper person, but use digital for things that must be retained long-term.
On the subject of style, have you done any postings on Dutch or Asian style? I would be quite curious.
Lyn--exactly, exactly that. After a time, you wonder if these 10 stuffy items are really the bulk of French fashion. One thing I loved when I first saw this channel was an episode where a woman paired a drapey, very open black silk button-down shirt with a blazer, whereas everyone else recommends a camisole, tee, or something like that.

LJP--A lot of these things were "new" to me, as I hadn't really considered upgrading such and such thing. Those hoods do seem to be a thing, and I discovered that a long, raw silk scarf one that I have creates a great babushka.
I also use physical notes--a blank book is best, for scheduling, thoughts, everything. I do use digital for things that must remain more permanent, like lists of movies I want to see.
Karen--yes, I did a phone reset this past year, and also switched Chromebooks. Even with a professional, I lost some stuff. It's almost worth spending half a day learning all these apps.
Irina--I love that idea of a shared calendar, which many people must need.
Kate--I use a bit of everything, since I have trouble remembering stuff. I would like a lighter handbag, but I guess I need a tiny notepad.

I haven’t watched this specific channel yet, but I still vividly remember the craze for all things French—fashion included. At the beginning of the internet era, there was an obsession with topics like “how to dress like a French girl" etc. Countless blogs and websites revolved around this theme, often feeling superfluous as they repeated the same clothing recommendations and tips over and over again. And while I have found those resources useful for acquiring some much-needed basic knowledge in the thema I also think the “French vibe” was overrated even back then and has become something of a hype.

Oh, and mee too-I still need a notebook for the year to write things in the old-fashioned way. For more than a decade, I’ve bought the same format every year, I can’t help but prefer it over digital notes:-).

I don't watch YouTube channels, or any fashion and style related videos for that matter!!! HAH! And I'm a personal stylist! I'm nodding along with Star and Suz. Personally, I'd rather listen to a podcast or audio book, or watch a TV show about other topics - if that makes any sense at all.

That said, I watched some of this video so that I could participate here, Carol! I'm a big fan of short impeccable nails with clear nail polish, and looking after your skin from an early age.

We lived just outside Paris before we came to the US. French style is not something I aspire to. I prefer Dutch (from the Netherlands) and Scandinavian style. It's more white, clean, crisp, modern, and colourful. I am also a lover of Asian style. I guess it's in my genes! I'm Dutch, and my late Mama was Eurasian (half Dutch, half Indonesian).

I'm with Carla too. I relate to British style.

As for a diary, I'm with LJP and karen23. I MUST have a diary and notebook for the year to write things in the old fashioned way! I've had this system since I was 10 years old. It helps me think, remember, and stay attentive and organized. I ALSO have a shared digital calendar and digital notes like Irina! That way hubs can see what's happening. I adopt a similar system as Suz because BOTH serve their important roles to keep me sane and on top of it.

ETA: my diary (day planner) and notebook for 2026.

I haven't seen this channel but I will check it out. If I have the patience. Like Lise (Star) I have a limited attention span for video. I am not sure why. I can listen to audio for hours and of course text is my best friend.

On the subject of journal vs. computer, though, I am an expert and can weigh in. I use both!! Always. For different things.

Like Irina, I use Calendar for all kinds of appts. and scheduling. I use Notes for many things....but I also use a paper notebook for my creative work and sometimes as a journal (working stuff out). And often for the beginnings of first drafts of my work, or of more sensitive letters to others. And sometimes I also keep a kind of commonplace book (what I'm reading) and/ or a "field notes" journal (what I'm hearing, seeing, tasting, touching etc.) at various times -- though those are more sporadic.

Anyway-- a real journal is a plus. I used to use it more before my hand got injured. Now I find typing easier, but not on phone.

I haven't seen this channel but do love a good relaxing but informative youtube video. I will take a look. I mostly relate to French listicles in terms of beauty more than fashion - I relate to the skincare first, hair under-done portrayal of French style.

I do enjoy many elements of French style and I remember watching Parisian Vibe way back before Covid hit. It looks like its had a few different incarnations over the years since covid, but I think if it provides joy and style inspiration, then why not take what you want from it.

Beautiful notebook, Carol. I love the idea of carrying a journal, but my bags are too small, and I’m not going back to a bigger one anytime soon.

My life is on Apple’s Notes and Calendar apps. I’m not sure I could function as efficiently without my Notes app.

I've been using those small Gallery Leather day planners for ages. Very useful for keeping track of appointments, especially the ones that get scheduled months in advance. I like that they give as much space for Saturday and Sunday as they do for other days of the week, and note holidays.

And somehow, I'm not sure that things written in a calendar or notes app on a dying Android phone would make it through a transition to a new phone or an iPhone. My contacts got onto the iPhone when I switched, but it was messy.

Oh and to keeping lists/ a written calendar/dairy ? I do. I have settled on a small dsayplanner/calendar/list book from Gallery Leather in Maine (ugh, sorry but couldn't easily source a Cdn made version and Maine aligns somewhat) that I keep in my work bag or purse. I have never successfully made the transition to the notes app or the calendar on my phone even though I've used both.

I'm a sucker for these lists and , while I never watch Youtube videos, well, videos. Lol. I will say though that I have more than a few years on this woman and have figured this stuff out for myself already ;).

Side note: I ordered a cashmere loose hood/neckwarmer from Aritzia and promptly returned it . I think they look great on certain women, but I'm not one of them. Maybe it's a short hair thing, but I looked physical unwell.

Those key holder things are nice, but do people really use them? I have never given one minute's thought to the inside of my bag being scratched.......and so far it's never happened.

Irina--ha ha, "in your bag" can be funny--they do them on Vogue, too. This channel is useful to me as an American, because I have two major impulses--

to buy quality, stylish items like the ones on this channel
and/or to spring for a bargain at CVS--BOGO eyeshadows, discounted plastic planners, etc.

It is nice to remind myself how nice things look.

I do carry a journal sometimes--mostly for planning. Here is my current one--a thin, paper one by the American textile company Pendleton.

I know this YouTube channel. I like their In the Bag episodes. But I often make fun of it - all young women are actresses/models and they all carry designer handbags with whole bunch of stuff. If you see one after another, you will find all bring with them “trendy” items - handwritten journals (who writes on paper anymore?), makeup thrown in a bag (how can they find anything is a mystery), some sentimental or vintage item.
I find it entertaining but not educational, not to me. My personal taste is basically Euro style, so not much new there.

I love a good YouTube channel that is relaxing, but informative. And often I am tempted by the "how to be French," "how to eat French," "how to dress French" channels. But they can be redundant, recommending the same types of clothing or tips again and again.

I just found ParisianVibe, which has a very editorial, magazine feel. Polished videos take you through tapestried, cushioned apartments over tree-lined streets. Women have very specific ideas about how to use vintage stores, and the wardrobes to show for it.

This is an interesting channel, hosted by Parisians themselves. Very fun--let me know what you think.
