My Area tends to be about a year late to any out there trend (Upper Midwest).

I'm ok with that I just wear what I like, but then again I've never been what I considered cutting edge!! Birks- well I never quit wearing them (sheepish grin), BF's love them wear them!! And flips well they are considered gear here (big Boating and Beach contingent here in the summer)

Birkies are popular in Seattle. It looks like they have taken the place of flip flops, which I am not complaining about. It's a better quality shoe that looks more appropriate in urban settings to my eye.

Early on I made a list of what I gathered were going to be the spring, summer trends that I would want for me, and thought perhaps they would be fairly general in my area too, both new, and ones still going strong, and things that seem to be classic like denim jackets. These include the Birks, and Birk type sandals, gladiator sandals, BF's , crop pants, ankle pants, fluid tops, midi skirts, slip on sneakers, and loafers.

I jumped on the Birks right away, and will probably get another pair. Have not seen any yet around here-this is a flip flop world, and thong type sandals -on everyone, all ages and men to wear flop flops, and some all year round. Have seen very few track pants, very few midis (except those like me who generally wear skirts just below knee (that to me are not midi), loafers do not seem to be trending, and do not even see anyone trying them on in DSW, or Off Broadway, or Marshalls, (also no one seems to be trying on the Birk types either! Not seeing much in the way of slip on sneakers either-but this is sandal country. One thing seems to be big are maxi dresses and skirts. See more and more every day.

so far this season I am in a minority with the loafers, and Birks, and my longer midi. In some areas I am also in a minority with the BF's. So I guess I am more fashion forward than most around here, and I like that!
