Fun thread! I think this is very useful. I find that certain items (e.g., tops) are much harder for me to find than other types of items, so I always get sidetracked when looking for the hard-to-fit item and end up buying more easy-to-fit items that I don't actually need!

I am done with (but still enjoy wearing):
-pants
-jeans
-skirts of all lengths
-shoes
-white bottoms

I would like to add:
-drapey tops (just ordered a ton)
-layering pieces (camis and tanks with associated cardis)
-belts
-solid scarves
-moto jacket
-sheer pieces (ha ha, everyone else is done and I'm just getting started!)

I'm done with but not purging:
-Heels higher than 2 inches
-Round toe flats or wedges
-Classic cardigans

I'm wearing but not adding:
-Blazers and moto jackets
-Pencil skirts

I would like to add:
-Belts that work with jeans, especially patterned ones
-Single-layer tops that don't require a cami below or cardigan on top
-Long sleeve tunics or dresses that work over pants
-A wildcard or two

I like sheer in small doses, like panels. I'm saturated in several kinds of clothes. I still love skinnies but I have enough.

Oh, I'm feeling so done with sheer too. I have a couple of tops from the last few years that require tanks underneath, and I just don't feel much like wearing them.

At first, I didn't have an answer for you. Then, out of the blue, I realized I am done with anything sheer. I don't want to bother with a under layer and I refuse to wear tops to work that people can see through. So I got rid of all of the tee shirts that were so sheer they were bordering on obscene. I have one Plione (spelling) top remaining in my wardrobe that I will keep because it fills a hole in my wardrobe. If I ever find a replacement (and I will), the Plione top will also go in the garbage. I will buy no more sheer in this lifetime.

@clearlyclaire, good point about things that we keep looking at and have to remind ourselves that we don't need! That conscious decision helps so much. I did that with dressy items this year and I'm so much happier. I might be drawn to very nice dressy items but I so do not need to add any!

This is a good list. It will keep you on track for your style goals, and keep you from shopping in the wrong departments just because you consciously wrote everything out. When I articulated this Spring/Summer that I didn't want to purchase any more skirts, but dresses instead, that's all I needed. Whenever I'd start looking at skirts, I'd remember and tell myself, "Step aWAY from the skirts!" It really worked. I'm considering making the ballet flat one of my personal style essentials though. Even though it's not trending anymore, ballet flats just really get my feet, and my style. Good job, and good luck!

I'm pretty much done with my summer buying, though I do have one tee on the way that has taken a long time for the manufacturer to make...

So, no more sandals for me either, got the kinds I wanted. I have enough fall shoes, boots, and bootlets I think too. What I need is some solid tops to mix with patterned items. Lightweight layering knits, I think, maybe. And looking for a short, simple dress (maybe something asymmetrical) to go with some arty leggings and patterned jeans, which could go from summer through fall as a layering piece.

Other than that, I don't feel a need to seek other trends right now. Conversely, though, I haven't really tired yet of the handful of trends I've adopted.

Fun question as we look toward fall. :)

Thinking about summer sale purchases, late summer and early autumn wear,

Things I am not buying any more-and may not wear the ones I have, but will not purge yet:

ballet flats-just tired of them

wider leg jeans, like bootcuts-will keep but not interested in wearing them at this point

will not get any more maxi -have 2 and that is enough..

no more sandals this year, unless I find the perfect dress black-although I think I want something kinda foot bearing, but with closed toe -that could be an all year round shoe for my climate.

loafers-like the ones I have-wear the navy a lot, not so much the white, but will not get any more of them-too many other styles I like better, like oxfords, and booties.

no more moto jackets-have 1 and that is enough, like it, but do not find it too versatile

no more blazers-have 1 white unlined summer, black, navy, neutral tan, and 2 velvet or wihtery ones, so will not be purchasing any more

pencil skirts,,never was too crazy about them, but will probably wear the black dressirer one I have, as it fills a need once in a while.

will be looking for-- -

ankle pants-

all kinds of jeans, pants, etc. that I can wear rolled or not, depending on the footwear, weather, etc.

All kinds of fluid tops

possibly a solid color bomber type jacket-

better quality, and nicer work out wear..not sure what kind yet, will be watching what you all and Angie do with the sports luxe look.
