Sometimes beige can be a fabulous camel color and other times it can be soul-sucking-beige, and the same color could be both, depending on the person. So the beige that would be fab on one person isn't necessarily the same for the next. I agree with Angie in that I think you should order both. You will probably have a feeling as soon as you try them on as to which makes you feel better.

Personally, I would choose beige only because I like to lighten it up in the spring, and keep a palette of white, beige/tan, blues and only a little black in a spring wardrobe.

Not that I would dislike the look of black in the springtime - just a personal choice. I've admire several women at work (when I worked) that wore it very well - it adds a certain touch of sophistication, I think.

But, agree that since the discounts are so good now - go for both and see how they work!

If you are like me, your phone gives a rough approximation of the actual color. I would order both and see what you think. If the golden color is strong enough it may look great with leopard.

Thank you for the feedback thus far. I am strongly considering purchasing both coats just because they are having a 40% off sale right now and then an extra 20% off with my BR card, the price is excellent for 2 coats. Not sure how the coloring will be since it is online, probably will just need to order and then compare in person. The fabric says water resistant cotton, so maybe the fabrication will help the black color not seem so inappropriate for the spring season.

I have settled with only one trench coat. It’s black and I only wear it in Summer, because weather, if that helps at all. I find the black more versatile.

I was thinking exactly what Runclara wrote -how does the BR beige look on you? On the BR site it looks more biege and less golden than the color name would imply.

My favourite trench coat is black, but I have a second one that is lilac. Trench weather (spring and fall) are short seasons where I live and summer is usually too hot for a coat. I like the idea of a beige coat, but getting the ‘right’ beige is hard. How does the golden beige look against your skin? (It looks kind of grey on the website. Nice coat though!)

I think the beige is probably the best choice based on the info you have provided. Sounds like it will contrast well with your own coloring, as well as with your whites and animal prints. It will really go with everything. I find in Spring I want to lighten up after a dark winter.

I'd say just buy the basic beige one, then you can have a look in your local thrift stores and add the dark trenchcoat in your wardrobe too

Hello, I am seeking advice on a trenchcoat color. I am considering The essential trenchcoat from banana republic in the golden beige or black color. my coloring is dark brown/black hair, dark brown eyes and light colored skin. I wear a lot of black/nuetral outfits and love incorporating leopard print Shoes/accessories into my outfits, as part of my signature style. I tend to wear more white in the spring and summer months, but still wear black in appropriate fabrics. I guess I am just wondering if a black trenchcoat for spring would be too dark but I also want to make the right decision for my coloring. thank you for any feedback.
