I missed that it was Florida until after I saw the pictures. I thought, "wow--must be the South somewhere---look at those trees." I am an American for whom the South seems extremely exotic--I have never been there except Disneyworld when I was a kid, and it captures my imagination.

I like your capsule--particularly the suits. If I had any advice, I would say, have you considered a Jackie O-style kerchief? The kind that went under her hair, not chin. I have a plaid one for those days when a hat feels to heavy or fussy.

The makeup looks great, and all I would say, if you don't want to travel with foundation, is use concealer in the darker areas, and brush powder over, skipping foundation.

Sounds like a good capsule (from the other post) and accessory and makeup collection.

I keep my makeup and skincare simple whilst travelling but am usually checking a bag. So I have more flexibility.

I put skin care things in very small plastic containers, that were marketed for beads. One thing I needed and didn't bring though, was exfoliator. My skin got sooo flaky without it :/

The question was more about makeup formulas. I was trying to avoid a lot of liquids, cause TSA. Loose powders get messy, unless the jar has a closable snifter seal. Pressed powder compacts can break in transit, though maybe I could pack in bubble wrap. The stick makeup I brought worked well, but I worry that it could become a melty mess if it's 90 degrees out. Though this was for air travel, I'd like to have a solution for quick touch ups in my car too, cause I'm often out 12+ hours a day.

Yep- sandals worked out well. Birkenstocks are ideal for my arches, so are generally not a problem. My concern was that these are both new styles to me, and I knew I'd be walking a couple miles a day. The sneakers are not comfortable. I considered buying the Sambas, but the ones I wanted weren't available in my size. Plus, do I want to spend $100 on shoes I'd likely wear just a few times a year? I only wear sneakers for fitness, but now I pretty much only swim, and for cold weather plane travel.

Low pony didn't work with that sunhat. The claw clips they're on are quite large. Ima look for the sort that's just a straw hat brim instead for summer. They do work with winter beanies though!

It sounds like you are an expert packer.

It also sounds like the new sandals worked out -- but you already knew they would, I imagine! :)

I have no tips on makeup for travel as I just bring my usual.

You must be enjoying the warmer FL weather - albeit not as warm as you would have liked ;)

Glad that the new things you packed worked out!

Have you tried wearing a low ponytail with a hat?

I will take some makeup travel tips from you. I need to cut down on that space in a carry-on, due to meds I can do little about. My makeup tip is to put it in small containers like lens cases . I read how useful those cases are…small and don ‘t leak. I write what is in each on the outside with narrow permanent markers.

Interesting to hear about your travels.l have found the Trinny London brand suits me for travel as it’s all very compact and fits into a stack that all clicks together. It depends whether the makeup suits your particular skin type of course and it’s not particularly cheap but l find it lasts for ages with me .

I'm going to break up my Florida travel post into 2 sections, like I did last year.

Shoes: 2 pair Birkenstocks and 1 pair of canvas sneakers. All got worn quite a lot. Normally I could have brought just 1 pair of sandals for a week, but both of these were new (yes, I know....don't bring untested shoes on vacation) and I wanted to break them in. Sneakers I would have just worn on the plane, but the archery range in my dads community has fire ants :/

Bag- yes I brought Rebecca on my clear kayak manatee trip. She dried out just fine Wish I had something smaller, like a bum bag, though for quick trips.

Hat- not worn. Not ponytail compatable. Fail!

Swimwear- worn A Lot! The tankini I used at dad's pool/hot tub, the rashguard and 1 piece for lap swimming at the Y. My dad and I were outside swimming in about 40 degree weather (heated pool) at 5:30am. Yikes!

Makeup- normally I use mineral powders, but they're messy for travel, so these were my solution. The blush/lip sticks and brown (technically face shaping, but used for brows, eyeshadow) worked well. Mascara, cream eyeshadow, concealer fine too. Foundation (Elf liquid decanted to small container) was way too greasy, though the color is just right. Will look for a bb cream next year, or just deal with powder. Also- it was not hot, only about low 70s at max. If it had been normal Florida heat and humidity, these things could be problematic.
Anyone have any good travel makeup ideas to share?
