And yes, the thing with the hat was the best. I put so much energy into finding one that fit and looked good and it was waiting for me back at home all the time! </p> <p>@Sally<br />I got a bit of encouragement yesterday by a friend who also packs light. I think I can really do this, I just need a few more clothing items that are fast drying. </p> <p>@Summer<br />I did use mosquito repellent! Didn't help. And we also used stuff in the home, but it didn't have much impact. And was called crazy. And got the eye roll... And I don't think 15kg is all that lightweight! I would love to carry less. But I think I might want to pack my DSLR with more lenses for a change and that weighs a lot already. All my recent trips were with the fast pancake lens only. Really, the only problem might be that I don't want to spend a lot on new travel things - I need to pay close attention to the sales. We stayed in boutique hotels, attended gallery openings and the theatre, ate in some very nice restaurants, and went on a few hikes and bike rides in the countryside. Those pictures are simply glorious! Your holiday sounds wonderful and, as Suz says, you look sun-kissed and beautiful in your pictures.</p> <p>I'm glad your travel capsule worked out so well. I'm always amazed at how few items I really need when I pack for a vacation. I'm still pondering the advice posted by fellow "travel light"-er. Her mantra was "pack for the best scenario, not the worst". Not sure I can totally get rid of my "just in case" sensibility, but neither can I think of any occasion when I've wished for something and couldn't either make-do or just pick it up locally. Of course, travelling by car makes it easier to throw in a few extras, but, when I'm hauling my stuff around, it's so much nicer to heft a lighter pack. </p>
