As for shoes, if they are equally comfortable I'd take whichever pair offers the best traction -- all those old stone steps can be slippery.</p> <p>It's a good idea to check the size of your suitcase against the height of the overhead luggage racks on the trains, if you can. The ones used by Virgin trains have particularly annoyingly short clearance, which can be a problem if you have a hard suitcase. You are an excellent packer! I thought I was doing well to get my stuff for a 3 - 4 week trip into a big suitcase!! Mind you, I was travelling to several different climates in that time and doing a wide variety of activities. </p> <p>This looks terrific and would serve you well.
