I was born and raised in Florida.

I'm headed to Jacksonville Beach tomorrow, and I'm not taking one single solitary pair of long pants with me. It's too hot. I will take a light sweater for when we eat out, as restaurants are always cold, but that's it. Oh, and I'm taking some workout clothes with me. We plan to use the hotel gym while there.

Staysfit, we've been to both parks several times, so know what to expect. I hate those lockers at Universal, and will try to just not carry a bag at all on that day. I mean, guys do it all the time, right? I'll make my husband put the sunscreen in his pocket. :P Husband, btw, is a planning menace. He had us on a schedule for breaking in shoes, and we have plenty of moleskin and blister bandaids in our luggage.

I was at both amusement parks in February. Universal Studios does not allow you to take bags or purses on any rides. They provide lockers outside all the rides. You may want to bring a smaller nylon bag and/or one that you don't mind stuffing in and pulling out of lockers that have been used for this purpose by hundreds of other people with whatever items they may have with them at the park - i.e. Diaper bags, etc. Universal Studios generally has well shaded or covered lines, and often the lines run indoors. I think it's the better park in the rain. I hope your shoes are well tested. I had what I thought were excellent walking shoes with me, but I ended up with blisters. I purchased some Sanuk's in Downtown Disney to give my feet some relief. They aren't great walking shoes but they didn't rub anywhere near my blisters!

Great capsule! You will be casually chic and as comfortable as one can in that climate! I especially like your hat and the kimono!

If I were travelling with this capsule, the only thing I would change is to sustitute some supportive sandals or other more breathable shoes for the Chucks. My feet wouldn't take well to a closed leather shoe in that climate combined with so much walking.

Have a great trip - I expect some wonderful memories will be made!

That's good to know, La Pedestrienne, although I do think it's a bit different in desert environments than tropics. You never see people in traditional tropical cultures wearing long black robes. :)

Oh, you will look so classy, particularly compared to the standard amusement park get-ups. Looks like a well-balanced capsule. I wear black all summer long too -- if it's good enough for the Bedouins... http://www.theguardian.com/sci.....h-abrahams (TLDR: if your clothes are loose-fitting, it doesn't matter what colour they are.)

JAileen, yup, the hat on bottom right. I do know that the black won't be as cool as a lighter color, but I don't generally have too much of a problem with black tops, so long as they're loose and breezy. And since 80% of the tops I own are black...

It looks really good. My only quibble is the black tops. I assume you're going to Disney World. Standing in line in 90+ and humid in black - I would probably pass out. Are you taking a hat?

ETA: never mind - I just saw your hat.

I'm putting together my capsule for a 9-day trip to Florida next week. It's neutral-heavy and über-casual for theme park days. The two days on either end are travel days, but neither is solely travel, as we'll have half-days at our destination for both of them.

I'm able to do laundry on this trip and will do so at least once. Weather will be in the 90s and humid, with a potential for afternoon thunderstorms. Though I don't wear shorts, I compensate with dresses and lots of natural fibers. Also, I'm a light packer, but I want enough clothing to be able to change after an afternoon swim break on several of the days.

Shoes: Allbirds runners, leather Chucks, Bed Stu sandals.
Dresses: black maxi, linen shift
Tops: black linen shell, relaxed black silk tank, black cotton crossover tank (yeah, I wear a lot of black), striped cotton tee, ivory crochet-top cotton tee, relaxed viscose ivory crochet-top tank
Bottoms: linen slouchy pants, relaxed twill pants, denim skirt
Toppers: Wool poncho (mostly for plane, and in Denver, where it will be in the mid-40s the morning we leave), silk kimono (can also be worn as a scarf)
Accessories: Fossil shopper, Fossil crossbody, sunhat

Not shown: swimsuit, swim coverup, underpinnings, sleepwear, rain poncho, long and short necklaces

I think I'm good to go. Any huge gaps?
