I use a black Travelon or Baggallini backpack if I need a backpack in the city. I think they are generally well-thought-out urban backpacks. Since I am team urban polish, I don't like the look of crinkled fabric and avoid those versions. But I always also include a Longchamp tote bag, black in winter and tan in summer. The totes are total workhorses for me at home and when travelling. They are a bit of a black hole, but that's both a benefit (they fit everything) and a weakness (I carry too much and things can disappear into the void).
