I have one of the Sportsacs and like it for weekend outings in warmer weather. I have a Tory Burch heavy nylon duffle that is good for short trips requiring more/heavier clothes.

Ebags and the reviews people post there can be very helpful in choosing more serious luggage.

Thanks for the recommendations! I live more than an hour away from retail locations, and am utterly dependent on what I can find online.

American Apparel has a nylon weekend duffle bag that is surprisingly sturdy and when I last looked, was about $40. I used and absued one for years until finally the zipper (not the fabric) gave out.

Another vote for Crutcher's suggestion -- add Home Goods.

I did not go expensive on this one as I don't travel much, and when I do, it's for work and across the globe. So, I bought a duffle bag from Champion at Target. It has held up amazingly well. It gets petty dirty going through the airlines, but it just wipes clean.

Just a suggestion but why don't you look at TJ Maxx or Marshall's for a bag...
They usually have great selections...

I have a Weekender as well and really like it. I bought my daughters a duffle and a tote from Chico Bags and they worked really well. They aren't fancy and come in limited colors but they are functional and fold down to almost nothing!

Another Le Sportsac person here... But I do also have some LL Bean duffle bags that I traveled all over with. LL monograms anything you want on them. That's helpful for bag id.

Well, my LeSportsac Weekender is almost 15 years old and is still going strong if that helps with the price. It's also a well-travelled piece since it is almost always folded into my checked suitcase as a "spare" since I can use it as a larger carryon if my credit card gets too much of a workout to fit everything into my usual carryon, a Le Pilage bag. It has also been checked through more than once stuffed with jackets and laundry--and always survived the journey in fine shape. For years, it was the bag I took on ski trips because I could stuff it with my ski clothing and accessories. And it's my favorite bag to take on car trips if we stay in small inns and B&Bs since it is easy to carry up a flight or two of stairs. Plus, I've washed the sucker half a dozen times in a regular machine and then let it air dry; it always comes out looking like new.

If I ever lost my LeSportsac, I'd be bereft and would replace it in a heartbeat. Oh, and my bag was so handy, my husband bought one for himself a few years after I bought mine.

I have a Samsonite boarding bag that I love. Mine is an older model but this one is very similar. (Mine is fuchsia though! Which is awesome and means my husband never steals it the way he steals my neutral colored luggage, lol.)

I'll be traveling next week and next month and realized that rolling suitcases are dreadfully inconvenient in snowy conditions when one relies on public transportation. I'd like a durable bag that is budget airline friendly. In spring weather, rolling suitcases are great, but even the lightweight ones add too much weight, 5-7lbs. I was thinking of getting the medium LeSportSac weekender, but was wondering if anybody knew of cheaper or better alternatives? I own an extra-large weekender and am happy with it, but would rather have something more budget friendly this time, if possible. Checked the usual suspects, but even with a discount, this bag isn't clocking in at less than a hundred.
