I have these flats (in black) and use them for the same types of activities you listed--they are so supportive and padded that they feel like sneakers. They're even more comfy than my beloved Converse + insoles combo (which is another great one for us moms of littles).

I am a big fan of ponte knit trousers to swap out with my beloved jeans. Also twill trousers look like jeans but come in fun colors. I've been able to snag both on sale at Nordstrom or BR.

The Keen Sienna's are fab if you ask me (I pinned them!). They look like good walkabout shoes but don't hit you over the head with gearishness. You could wear them with a cotton twill A-line skirt even and be very hip.

I am also a 100% backer of New Balance sneaks; they're a serious shoe. They are, in my mind anyways, one of the few companies that make a shoe without a cutout in the sole under the arch - which means a stable shoe. They're not fashion shoes, yet they are because they ARE statement shoes (of the quiet type).

Love all of CocoLion's suggestions on the clothes side. If I were you, I'd probably be living in flared jeans, New Balance, and cute 3/4 sleeve button-down tops with cute prints. Oh, and a little denim jacket with a peplum

The husband and I are trying out a variety of exercises 2 or 3 times a week but are working towards more. I'm also going to start power walking with a neighbor. I only run when someone is chasing me or my kid has taken off towards the road! We've also changed our diet to a more whole foods, lots o' produce diet. Overall, just healthier! I do want to try something like PX90 or Crossfit.

Sneakers are VERY important for walking, around the house & we spend lots of time at the playground. There are 5 small playgrounds within my neighborhood alone. I've been looking at these:
1) http://www.zappos.com/new-bala.....101-purple
2) http://www.zappos.com/keen-sie.....true-khaki

I hadn't even thought of knit! It's one of my favorites just because of the softness & comfort.

I have a pair of Frye boots (http://www.zappos.com/frye-har....._pdp_acc#z). I also have black Converse. They're not my fav bc they're not super comfy & I think I look silly in them but they just may have to do for awhile.

Other than that, there is nothing in my wardrobe that I truly LOVE.

I would get a pair of skinny or straight jeggings/jeans with a good amount of stretch, that feel great now. I think you can find decent ones for $50, certainly under $100. This would be the item that knowingly might need to be replaced as your weight changes.

From there, I would get knit tunics and longer tops. (I don't think jeggings look right with shorter tops.) Don't get them super-oversized, but not too tight either. They should still fit, but just in a different way, after losing weight.

You need a pair of comfy booties with a moderate heel to go with the jeggings, athletic shoes don't look so great, although they're ok in boot cuts in my book. Or you could try a pair of wedge sneakers if you like trendy things.

I'd get flowy sweaters instead of blazers for now.

And yes bf jeans are a great idea but I would approach it like this. Get regular jeans now and turn them into bf jeans after you've gone down 2 sizes as a fit that is two sizes too big basically makes a bf jean.

Hope this helps, and congrats on your second child!

OT -- I went to elementary school in N. VA (Alexandria), my father was US Treasury, every one in my neighborhood was military. He also was Federal Reserve and commercial banking (non govt). Everyone around me moved or had moved a lot. I thought everyone lived like this, with frequent transfers. It was only until I was an adult that I learned that most people live in the same place, for their whole life.

my thought, you should have a small wardrobe that makes you feel good regardless of your current size. life's too short to feel lackluster.

Congratulations on your baby! I also have a baby (10 months) and a 3.5 year old and am in the process of losing weight. I asked about this last week and got some great advice. I'm trying to focus on jersey knit pieces that are more forgiving in fit than jeans. I'm planning to wear lots of dresses, tunics, leggings and boots, and scarves. I'm also considering a pair of boyfriend jeans since they are supposed to fit loosely and therefore should be more forgiving.

What are you doing to lose the weight?

I've followed YLF in the past but fell off the wagon about 6 months before I became preggo with now 2 month old. I'm trying to get back on the style path but still have 40lbs of preggo weight to lose. So, I'm in need of a wardrobe that will last until I've lost the weight. I'm a stay at home mom to 2 boys (2 mo & 3.5 yrs). I'm also a military wife & active with my church. My style preference is a clean & classic but with fun colors & prints. I LIVE in jeans. I'm also love dresses & skirts. Unless it is a truly amazing piece it has to be machine washable (did I mention 2 boys?) or at least hand washable. I've got the MOTG formulas printed out but I don't know where I should focus my attention & limited budget. I don't want to spend a ton of time or money searching for pieces that I'll only wear for a year (hopefully). I've also got a Northern Virginia winter coming up then possibly a move or maybe not.
So, any thoughts?
