I think I'm the opposite to most folk here in that I used to wear boots in transitional/ warmer weather back home in the UK, but not so much here - maybe because of the subtropical humidity?

But when I *did* wear such outfits, I usually relied on lighter/ gauzier fabrics (such as sheer detailing on my clothes) & hidden socks (no 'scrunched legwarmer' vibes) to look more seasonally appropriate. My toppers were also usually more cropped (to add less visual weight) & I'd wear my laces slightly loosened (to add that more 'carefree' rather than 'suited & booted' look, iykwim?)

I don’t wear boots in warm weather (it tends to be way too humid here for that), but I’ve seen it done well! I think that light colored or lower-contrast boots with bare legs makes for the most pleasing look.

I have a friend who wears her black Docs with long dresses in summer and a denim jacket. She doesn't look seasonally confused as I think it is a very 90s look (correct me if I'm wrong).

Around here boot wearing season starts as soon as the temperature gets down to about 27C/80F. Everything is relative. You have a great looking boot collection!

I think boots all year round is a great look! It has an edgy vibe and protects your feet. My plan this fall is to try it with shorts

Bijou and Brooklyn, people wear boots YEAR ROUND in Seattle. With shorts, jeans, long skirts, and mini skirts. It's a thing - even in our heatwaves.

When I lived in Cape Town - Mediterranean climate much like Sydney - people ABSOLUTELY wore boots in the Summer. I did too! They still do. It works with a seashore climate that is not humid.

To answer your question, I wear these boots and h-tops almost year round (like at night). The high heeled patent boots I keep only for formal occasions since I can't walk in them for long. Too high! Sitting shoes.

The pink cowboy boots and shooties have become a bit of a comfort challenge - but I hope they make the cut.

These are examples of what my basic look is with booties. I have boots in many colours. If I leave off the ol’ giant puffer, it doesn’t seem too wintery. I only have one pair of boots fit for winter - my puffer boots. I don’t see suede as being fit for winter because not warm enough and won’t stand up to any kind of rain or snow or anything like that. On the other hand, coastal fog may be why boots seem more than appropriate in June.

That is one super collection of boots, Bijou. Don’t second guess yourself!

FWIW, I wear boots so much for cold weather, that I’m out of them as soon as possible in spring. Fall and spring the unlined Blundstones are good, but they are pretty casual, so probably not what you’re looking for.

I think you and I both live in a Summer dominant climate, where the opportunity to wear boots is quite limited. So we don’t tire of boots!

I personally don’t find boots any hotter to wear than sneakers (sandals are definitely more airy). So I wear them in any circumstance where I would prefer to wear a closed toe shoe.

I think how you wear them is mostly personal preference. I also think your eye can adjust to wearing them in warmer weather the more you wear them. Remember 10-15(?) years ago when we baulked at wearing ankle boots with skirts? Doesn’t raise an eyebrow now.

Personally, I wouldn’t wear black, dark brown or maroon tall boots in warm weather. Feels too heavy. I would wear lighter coloured tall boots in Spring. But maybe not Summer.

Ankle and mid calf boots are more versatile because they are not so visually dominating. I would wear almost any colour ankle boot in warm weather but I would avoid suede (for the reason you mention) or anything with a more heavy, snow boot vibe. I have black Taos mid calf boots that I only wear in cool weather because they have a heavy look and a nubuck finish. But I also have some combat boots which have a heavy sole but are a smoother leather and a bit shorter and more urban/refined than the Taos pair. I am comfortable wearing them all year round.

I’d only wear black if I were wearing black in my outfit (common for me but not so much for you). Otherwise, I think lighter colours look better in warmer weather.

I think your boots translate very well to trans-seasonal dressing. Just do it!

I don’t do it either Bijou. As soon as Spring hits I am pretty much out of the boots unless there is a really cold day.
It is partly because I don’t want to wear them with bare legs, but I see lots of women younger than me doing it.

I love wearing boots as they are comfy and a bit easier for me to style with skirts and dresses than sneakers. I wear boots most of the year, but find I mainly wear my light-coloured boots in Spring.

These are my boots that I wear in warmer temperatures, the higher heeled boots are going to have to be retired, as they are close to having been worn out.

I would be interested to see what boots others wear in warmer temperatures. I have tan boots (also in finds) but given they are suede, I feel they look a too winterish to wear with light dresses.

I know Brooklyn is able to wear her boots most of the year and does so without looking seasonally confused, any tips would be much appreciated.
