So glad you will get to go on such a wonderful trip. It can be very warm in May in Italy (mid or high 80’s) with no air conditioning and the sun is strong. We all live such a casual lifestyle in the US but we need to remember we are going to another country that is more traditonal. In some churches you are expected to cover your shoulders. And yes, comfy walking shoes rule!

After such a bad year, you deserve Italy! I was there four years ago but it was January so I'm not much help with style, except to echo good walking shoes! I wore some moto boots all over and they were perfect, walked for miles in them.

yes there are lots of jeans in italy. The trendy young italians wear jeans, have tattoos & leather jackets. Everyone wears lots of scarfs. They do tend to dress up more than I typically see in America. I saw distressed jeans worn, but also non, so I think what you feel comfortable in--I might tend to recommend non-distressed so it is a bit nicer looking.

you can search street style on instagram & see what folks are wearing at the moment. The coast has a definite beachy vibe, Rome is everything from alternative to high end fashion. Tuscany has a bit of both, more casual elegant--smaller towns, the villas and farm life affects the fashion. Sneakers are big--both fancy nike and leather styles (adidas, etc)

Thanks ladies for all the great tips!
HGR- I am going to be in Tuscany, Amalfi coast and Rome!
Question... I LOVE jeans... Can I wear them in Italy? Can I wear distressed jeans? If paired with cute shoes and a classy top of course. Thanks !!!

Welcome! I think Tory Burch is pretty timeless, especially for summer (I'm thinking floral maxis and sandals with the TB motif). And as was said above, if you love it, rock it! Enjoy your travels.

I quite like what Tory Burch is doing. At first, I associated her with ‘Daytime Talk Shows’... sort of El Bland-o. Don’t know why. Maybe just seeing lots of people in the elevator with those flats with the giant round logo ornament. But then I had a real look, and she does good design work! Lol. I’m so terrible.

Sorry about your difficult year. I think you should treat yourself to something nice in the states (perhaps TB?) and something nice in Italy. Pack lightly for your trip and plan to get something in Italy. I was in Italy two weeks ago. I went to Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi, Poisitano and Orvieto. I was with a large group of people and we walked everywhere. Before my trip, I bought a pair of Santia's and also wore my Chelsea Shoes by Steve Madden(picture #1, #2) The Santia's were great at home but most of the streets in Italy are uneven cobblestone and I found that I almost turned my ankle a few times. I wore the Steve Madden's for the majority of my trip. (very comfy for me but make sure you have shoes that work for you) There a lot of high end purse stores in Italy (Furla, Longchamp, Lowe) I did not buy any high end items in Italy but I did purchase some items in medium priced stores. Consider buying something that is particular to the region. Research the shopping in the areas you are visiting. I did see a lot of nice purses and shoes. Although I did see some heels, I mostly saw women in very stylish sneakers (leather, metallic) and stylish combat boots. I think a "scarf' is the ""national accessory in Italy.....& yes I bought 1". I'm jealous.....I'm ready to go back. Picture #3 is from Antica Sartoria Positano---I purchased a scarf and espadrilles and picture #4 and #5 are from a store called I Am. Enjoy your trip. Get something nice for yourself and wishing you great memories with hubby
http://anticasartoriapositano.it

Welcome, and YES, of course. Tory Burch is very much in :)

Really hope that hubs makes a fast and complete recovery. Very tough.

We'd be happy to help you prep for your trip. Was in Italy last year - very stylish country.

Most IMPORTANT: excellent walking shoes - for you and hubs, and they have to be road tested before your trip.

I have no idea about how "in" Tory Burch" is, but I'd say if you love it, wear/carry it.
Sorry about your tough year. Your trip to Italy sounds wonderful.
Perhaps you would like to shop for your shoes and handbag in Italy? I hear Italian leather goods are wonderful.

Dear fashionistas.... Let me introduce myself. I am a 41 year old Socal gal that pretty much lives in jeans and fitted t-shirts. If I am going to dress up, i will wear a black wrap dress or jeans with a cute blouse... I live in a coastal town and the style is very casual here.
My wardrobe is in desperate need of a make over!
Its been a tough year. My husband was diagnosed with and treated for cancer . I completely neglected myself during this time and now I want to treat myself. We are going on a trip to Italy in 6 weeks and I would like to fit in with the stylish Italians.
My first step- Shoes and handbag.
Question, is Tory Burch still in?
