I couldn’t say goodbye to him and went ahead with the surgery.<br /> My vet felt it was critical enough to send us to the university emergency room. They weren’t able to unblock him either, so his bladder was surgically drained Thursday night - I got home at 3am.<br /> Unfortunately, circumstances just didn’t work out to have the procedure done at home less expensively.<br /> On Friday they performed a cystostomy to clean out the stones and grit and a urethrostomy to create a new exit for the urine because his urethra is so narrow.<br /> Looks like a pretty nasty surgery to me, but I have never been so happy to see a dog pee!<br /> I took yesterday and tomorrow off work so I can keep an eye on him and my other pug. My poor little man has a bladder stone blockage.<br /> They will try flushing the stone back into the bladder but one way or the other he will need surgery which would cost $4-5000 here.<br /> If they are successful flushing it back into the bladder it could still drop back down and block him again.<br /> If the flush is successful I could take him home and my vet could do surgery to remove the stones. The other option is to have another procedure where they create a new opening for the urine flow - which my vet does not do.<br /> My husband doesn’t want to spend that kind of money on a dog that already has pug dog myelopathy but he’ll go along with me if I decide to have the surgery done. I’m just not ready to part with him yet but still......<br /> I’m rambling. I’m so sad. </p>
