I had a marathon singing morning in church, and just returned.

Sarah: The sweaters are different weights, indeed. The faux leather is perforated, so it breaths, and the rest of the sweater is a blend, but I think it will shine in cool spring and autumn --- even in winter, since I run a little warm. The eyelet is much lighter, but perfect for a/c in the summer and spring. These were each about $35 after discounts, as was the cardi --- I could keep them all, as long as I don't clutter my closet and get off my style track.

Karie and Lynn: perhaps I'll try styling a little more before I make a final decision

Angie: Grab and go is exactly what I see here --- for days when I'm at home and going out just for a short rehearsal or teaching a couple of lessons at home.

DayVies: You know me and my pencils --- and we both have a taste for boldness, don't we?

Columbine: I could keep both, since I think they'll take me into autumn, too. The cardi is an unusual blend of graphic print in a soft shape --- probably why it's a split decision on the forum!

I think I'm going to need to do some styling on the cardi particularly --- need to get in that closet anyway!

Is there a place in your wardrobe for both the eyelet sweater and the Calvin Klein one? They both look very interesting and different, I like both of them on you. I guess I'm in the minority for also liking the cardigan on you. I like the shape and colors of it. Not sure why I like it so much since I don't care generally for colorblocking, but it must have something to do with the shape.

I think I would like the first top with pencil skirts more as Angie suggested. The color blocked sweater is fabulous. To my eye when a sweater has so much going on I have a tendency to make the rest of the outfit monochromatic. Any one of those color will do. It's not the sweater anyone who has given up would choose IMHO.

Oh my goodness. I love the hectic cardi on you so much, Beth Ann. It's great with the powder blue, and a fab grab and go.

And the black top is going to be especially fun over your assortment of pencil skirts. xo

I loved the eyelet sweater sooo much, but do I remember well that you have it in white, too? Than it makes sense to return the black instead of the pleather front here, you'll still have the eyelet one in white.

I don't know about the cardi. I discovered printed cardis 2 yrs. ago-and loved the ideea so much, I bought 4 since but then, they are not a waterfall style, just some plain/longer lengths. Their print is rather medium sized(one snakeprint in purple and black, the other is light grey some with bl&cream animal front but grey and cream stripe on the back, one is navy, with cream spots on front and cream stripes on the back, and I have one chanelesque cut darker grey with some black, light grey and one teal stripe round on it's lower hem).

I think waterfall and big colorblocks is a bit too much to my eyes, but you'll certainly do a good job styling it for perfectly for your needs, I trust your guts!:-)

I like this top a lot! The faux leather front makes it trendy and fun. As for the waterfall cardi, that's so hard to say...I think I want to like it more than I actually do. I'm not sure why, or if it's the pattern or the style. If you like it and it fills a need, I'd keep, otherwise, I do think there's something better out there for you.

The mod pleather top could be an interesting addition. I havent gonr back to look at the eyelet though. I just returned an EF top that was just beautiful but made me feel very broad and blocky in the upper chest. The fabric was lovely as was the hem but i couldnt get past feeling overly broad. Do you think these thoughts will nag you? If so i doubt you will ever love the sweater.

I love the idea of these prints and colorblocks but they rarely work on clothing to my eye. Or clothing on me or .... Ill just enjoy the idea on more 2D surfaces

Peri: The black top seems like a good piece --- modern, but still in a classic form, and more fluid than it appears in the photo. Still it is a lot of black, and the neckline is OK, but not terrific on me. The sweater? It's interesting, very soft and comfy, but I'm not sure it sings.

Fuzzy: Absolutely. Happiness factors matters!

Pat: You have me pegged! I'm also finding that I have to get it home and play with it for awhile -- until I know if it will elevate other items in my wardrobe.

Lantana: Your observations about the nature of mondrian prints is eye opening to me. Very helpful!

Deborah: I'll style the Kohl's top and this one with other items in my closet. I think the Kohl's top has a different softness and also a lighter look, with 3/4 sleeves and a more open neckline. Here it is, if anyone else wants to see for comparison.

Beth Ann, I have just gone back to look and I think the Kohls black to looked fabulous on you and I would prefer that to this one. This one just doesn't have the fluid-ness of the other and I just don't think it's a 10 on you.

The cardigan is tricky. I love the style but somehow the pattern isn't you. It's not awful, infact it's perfectly workable and the colours are lovely on you...but I think you will find better.

Well BethAnn, after careful consideration it's thumbs down on both of these items from me. I much prefer the eyelet black top to this one which I do see as a bit blocky on you. Also I think the texture of the Kohls top will keep it interesting longer.
I vote nay on the cardi and that is based on a couple of things. The draped front doesn't carry off the Mondrian style pattern; to me they are at odds. Similarly, the cut of the front is at odds with the cut of the back. From the back this cardi looks like a fairly conservative sweater.

I really love the black top; very "sporty luxe" to me! The cardigan, just so-so, even though I really like the waterfall front. Not sure I like the ivory elements on you. Your comment about boredom resonates with me because this is the time of year when I start to go squirrelly with the weather, my wardrobe, blah, blah, blah, lol, and tend to bring home pieces that don't have any staying power for me. In retrospect my early spring "bored" stuff always looks cheap and out of character for me and never has any staying power. I have to learn to guard against these purchases, while still injecting colour and interest. (BTW, I'm not saying any of these comments apply to you, but you got me thinking

Tanya, Carter and Shannon: Thanks for chiming in! It's so helpful to have other eyes right now. I'm not feeling "style insecurity) really, but I'm a little bored with my older things, but not clear on where I want to go now. It makes decision making complicated!

Suz: I know exactly what you mean! I'll mull over the perf. leather vs. lace sweater -- perhaps doing some styling. And the cardi is hard read for me, too.

Adelfa: Excellent observation. I think the colors of the cardi flatter my skin tone reasonably well, but they didn't feel quite like "me." The fact that this is visible to others is interesting.

Bosom of power!! As a Diva, you are entitled to it and you have earned it.

I like this sweater. I'm not sure I like it better than the lace one, but I also see the value of something slightly different (if you're keeping the cream). I mean two different textures. One question....does the faux leather part feel ...crunchy or stiff? If so, then I would favour the Kohl's top, myself. If not, then keep and cut the tags.

I feel completely unable to judge the cardigan. I want to like it. I definitely like the idea of it. And I understand the purpose of it and how well it could work into your life. Plus, I think it would look really fun and fresh with white and would be a great way for you to incorporate a bit of the pastel trend in this irritatingly long winter. (More snow again here today....sigh....) But I fear the same things you do, and know that I'm horrible at judging such. So I'm going to be reading the other replies closely.

Spring is so slow in coming, I'm having a hard time casting a real vision for my warm-weather wardrobe. I have found a couple of long sleeved tops that would work for cool spring and fall. I'm trying to decide whether I should keep them.

1. Calvin Klein long sleeved black sweater with a perforated faux-leather front. This has a lovely fit in the arms and shoulder, but nice slouch in the torso. I had to use a flash, which creates a certain "bosom of power" look that I don't think it has in real life --- it's quite generous across the bust, really. I like the fact that the banded hem can be moved up and down, which means I can wear it with skirts and pants. Love the long sleeves and the quality of the knit. If I keep it, I'll return the eyelet front black sweater I got a Kohls (and keep it's cream twin). I'd recommend this item in a heartbeat for others, but I want to make sure it isn't too severe and "blocky" for me.

2. This graphic waterfall cardi in powder blue, black, taupe and ivory would be excellent for popping over something to look polished while teaching at home. I'd wear it with denim, black and white bottoms, or over a plain black sheath. I like the way the shoulders and sleeves are tailored, but the rest of the sweater is suitably drapey. Printed cardis are funny things, though, and this one isn't typical for me. I want to make sure it doesn't look just a bit "chicostastic" or "middle-aged-I-give-up." Does this seem modern and fun, or is it trying too hard and failing?
