The ruching in the bodice helps flatter a less-than-flat tummy for me. While I would have preferred the looser sleeves of the first dress, the second one worked better for me. Predictably, I ordered it in solid black, and I love the dress. It goes well with toppers for winter, but will work without them for spring. Instead of an empire waist, it is fitted in the bodice, with ruching. Instead of a fairly loose elbow length sleeve, the sleeve, again, is fitted with ruching. And the neckline is higher and tighter. The fabric is also a bit lighter-weight. And on me, the length is a bit shorter (still falling to midi length.) The only thing the same really is the superficial silhouette (with the asymmetry and sleeve length). The purple one might have worked on me in a different size but not in the size I was able to get. I just returned my purple one. I kept the dotted one. The purple just felt a bit overwhelming and sack-like on me somehow, even though I colour was great. It has&nbsp;&nbsp;served an important role of helping me to refine exactly what I want in the LBD I've been seeking for many months. I want something a lot more classic with less trendiness, and the assym hem is too trendy. I also want 3/4 or long sleeves. The dress itself is fine, just not what I want for an LBD at this point. (UK Size 14) For me the waist placement was too high, I am 5/8" with a long torso and it felt like an empire waist which is not a good silhouette for me so I returned it.&nbsp; Not going to try a smaller size as the waist will be even higher.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;I think it is best suited to someone with proportionally longer legs. For me, I ordered the purple and the "grey" (which looks blue) in two sizes. The purple has arrived and the size 10 is way too big on me everywhere. I expected it would be too long but it runs big through the shoulders too, plus the dolman sleeves are of course a looser fit. I'm not crazy about the purple. The grey is sold out in smaller sizes but the fabric and style are really nice, so I thought it might work as the LBD HEWI in my list. I ordered a 6 and an 8 in black and have fingers crossed. </p>
