Caro, interesting point about anti-wicking tank. I have never tried that. Also you are right I shouldn't by too much, especially since the laundry machine is going double time lately. I don't have any summer tops yet though.
Another vote for #1 - the shape & pattern look more modern imo. Scarlet can you find an anti-wicking tank to wear under it - they are usually used for exercise but I find they take any moisture away from the body & help me feel cooler:)

The only advice I would give is don't feel you need to buy a lot of things - a few pieces that work together & get you through from wash to wash is all you need.

I prefer the pattern of #1. Do you you run hot or cold? I run cold and don't sweat much even when it's hot (maybe from living in a desert for so many years?) so I don't mind polyester.

I had a hard time figuring out what to get for work after my kids were born too. I went back to work after 12 weeks so still had baby weight and didn't want to buy a lot of new clothes but also needed clothes that were appropriate for an office environment. I bought a few new bottoms and then rotated them like crazy since most of my shirts were able to handle a little extra weight.

Another vote for 1. I think it would work well and you could put a cami under if needed. And I agree that it will dry quickly when needed.

Yeah, I like the way one looks better too. It's just the fabric that gives me pause. Denise I have to say your experience sounds like a cautionary tale. Good point about the darkness of the belt. I wasn't thinking of that.

Pil, no I really can't baby my clothes right now, especially considering that silk would need to be ironed every time I washed it, so it's poly or bust, I guess. Hmm, maybe it's worth a shot after all. It does have those big arm holes.

I much prefer the style of #1, more modern and I think it will be more flattering. As for the heat factor, the style looks loose so that will help. Most of all, can you wear a cotton cami underneath, I think that will help you feel cooler.

I had two poly work shirts which I wore in April, I rolled up both of the sleeves. But I was very very warm in them. One was black and fitted (black didn't help considering I was serving outdoors in the warm April sun). The other was cream and a bit looser. That one worked better but I am still relegating the shirts to the donate pile because I move around a lot at work and the poly is too warm.

Some Viscose fabrics breath better than poly as does rayon. In fact I have no issue with my rayon tops.

Love the belt, but it reads as black or grey not white. Do you want a high-contrast look with the white jeans? If so, this is the one. I'm more on team low-contrast so I would probably wear a lighter printed belt. I think I'm a little obsessed about "cutting myself in half" with a high contrast belt, maybe I need to re-think that.

Poly top by far. Belt also ok.

If it's not too snug, poly should be ok in an uncooled office?

They're both beautiful Scarlet, though I love #1. The white belts that so many are sporting would look really nice with it too, though the python probably works through more seasons. Looking for a silk top probably isn't very practical with a baby?

I am getting ready to go back to work after my maternity leave and trying to renew my wardrobe a little to gear myself up. My work is very casual, but I try to look nice. Also there is no air conditioning (a European thing, I guess) and my office gets really hot in the afternoon, even when it is not that hot outside. This top is made out of polyester and transparent, so I would wear it e.g. over a white camisole with white jeans. I find polyester is not so breatheable, but dries quickly if one gets sweaty. A mixed bag. An alternative would be the second top which is a cotton/viscose blend. I really like Angie's top in her white on white blog post and have been looking for something in that vein ever since. I also have the snakeskin booties, but Angie's top was black and white whereas these tops are blue and white, so I don't suppose the shoes would work equally as well. I could wear plenty of other shoes of course. Also I thought the belt would go nicely with the first top at least.

I feel a bit adrift in my closet lately and weirdly indecisive. Any input is appreciated.

1.) polyester top
2.) cotton/viscose mix
3.) Angie's super-fab outfit
4.) belt

ETA: Well I just sat down to order some things to try and that first top is sold out now in my size. This is happening a lot lately. I guess it is a message not to dither!
