Marryykatt, first of all, its a natural female shape, please don't feel bad about it! I used to wish i was less curvy on the bottom half too, but dont mind now.
Angie has on the advice section how to dress different body types, and id also suggest inside out style blog. There she differentiates between figure 8 style hour glass (short waist high hip) and x (longer waist lower hip). Im an 8 shape which seems the trickier one. Dresses are good, bottoms must have stretch, and stiff a line skirts just make me look big all over.

You don’t have to wear skirts! You might want to look carefully at how Janet (in the forum) dresses. I think she is beautiful, but she says that she has big thighs and it isn’t easy to find the right things that fit.

I’m sorry to hear you are having such a hard time! I was never quite your measurements, but I was 36-26-36, just one inch bigger than you around the waist, for years and never had a hard time finding things that fit. I’ve noticed on sizing charts that clothing makers seem to be stepping away from that hourglass shape, towards a bigger tummy.

Another option is to buy jeans that fit your hips and have the waist altered. I understand that quite a few bodybuilders have their clothes altered to fit their uniquely beautiful bodies.

Marryykatt, I hate to say this, but I think we need a picture. We can tell nothing from your measurements. They are completely normal. There is nothing disproportionate about them whatsoever. Change the lenses in your glasses. You should be able to find plenty that fits. If you have muscular thighs, and cannot find jeans, wear skirts.

I really need help. I am 5’7. I have a 34B breast size, a 25 in waist size, and a 36 1/2 in hip measurement. I have such a hard time finding clothes I’m confortable in and that actually fit. I am very conservative and can not bring myself to wear crops tops and things such as that. I’m not against them by any means. I just don’t feel comfortable and it seems everyone my age wears these things. I’m 22 and I just need help with what to wear and where to begin feeling comfortable with the way I am made. I am very “bottom heavy” as it would be and I have tried every diet you can think of to help with this. I used to compete in body building competitions, I’ve had multiple trainers, and I’ve gained muscle and lost fat. I haven’t lifted heavy in a year and have become slightly smaller and I still continue strength training for health reasons but sadly nothing has really helped slim my bum or hips the way I would like. surely I’m not the only one with such a wide range in measurements. Just needing advice on what to wear or how to dress for my snap. But really any advice at all would be much appreciated

I am still not satisfied due to me being a small person. I need to reach 88 pounds, which I think will be better,, but I am failing. I have been stuck on this weight since a year and 6 months, and the scale isnt moving at all

Dear dfhilton,
I am 125 and 5'7". I also am slender and thin. I can wear anything. I just wish a had filled out more in the bust-line area. Oh, well. Anyway, for your comment about where to shop for clothing for good prices. This really depends entirely on your actually budget. Also, how much time do you have or are willing to use for shopping/searching for clothes. So, if you are very limited on both, shop for clearance items and they are all over the malls and all stores. If, you have time and not much cash. Check out the tag sells/yard sales in the ritzy areas of larger cities. Also, if you have time try the Goodwill or Salvation Army stores. You really need time to search for items but, you will be surprised at the low, low, prices. But, you really have to go thru each item and like I said this takes time but usually worth it. The better Used item stores are usually best at larger cities, also.
Well, hope that helps. Oh, Kohl's is a great place for sale and clearance items, sometimes better than any tag sale or anywhere else for the quality and price.

Sincerely,
Trisha
***I have clothed 6 children over the yrs by doing what I mentioned above and they were kept "in style" all the while.

Well, for the past 6 yrs, I have been an amputee. I really do not care for that label but it is true. So, my body-type is somewhat less without a 1/4 of my left limb gone now.
I try not to advertise my situation(disability) during outings, school, or to the public. Meaning, I wear clothes that do not show my prosthetic. Well, at least I try. Which is why I joined this site.
Hope to make some changes in the fashion industry with several attire for women. So, not will these ideas enhance certain apparel for limb amputees but for ALL girls and all women.
SO, if anyone out there in cyber-space knows how to assist or knows someone that would help assist me, please, please let's get going and further this business adventure. Or at least, to make a change for the good of all women. Whether it gains anyone financially or not. I do not know forsure but it is way past the time for a change. So, send your thoughts, comments, advice, or assistance. p_irelan@yahoo.com My sincere thanks. Trisha

I am a plus sized woman and am looking for the type of clothes I can be wearing to help make me look slimmer as I get my body into better shape. these clothes can be anything from workout clothes, casual, and dress up. Also I am 5ft. 2in. tall and weigh 200 lbs. I have large breasts and big hips My stomach is big but you can see where my waist is. Can we post pics to help with our descriptions.
Another area I want help in if possible is my bra. I have yet to find a comfortable fitting bra and that is what they say I wear. They the stores I've had fittings at (JC Penney, Dillards, Victoria Secret) say I am 44DD and as I say I have yet to find anything that gives me the support or comfort I so desire.
I thank you for your time and advise. What do you think?

Hi Teri.
You are a hourglass.
Why? Well thats easy, to be an Hourglass shape all that is required is your waist to be smaller than your shoulders or hips.
Plus you have almost the same measurements as I do, only I'm a little taller.

Hopefully that helped.

I lost over 200 pounds almost 3 years ago. I am still amazed at how different I feel and look. I am very grateful. I still dont know what style is best for my body type and age (46), activity level, and climate (high humidity, mostly hot).
