				<description>&#060;p&#062;Hi Jan, welcome to YLF, it is great to have you here.  How facsinating that you have been a makeup artist for 30 years.  You have seen so much in that number of years and I hope we hear more about it.&#060;br /&#062;
I also loved the maxi dress of the 70's but owned one then and never wore it because it is so much fabric to deal with all day, and I just felt odd wearing it. Here at YLF alot of things become crystal clear with Angie's explanations. I now know that the reason I didn't feel right wearing my maxi dress is because it felt like I was wearing a nightgown in public. I much prefer wearing a skirt just under the knee.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Welcome, Jan! I'm 5'4&#034; and a maxi dress makes me look like I'm standing in a bucket...not the best look. Like others have suggested, try for the most flattering spot above, on or just below your knee and wear tights, microfishnets and boots or booties. Best of luck on your battle with anorexia. As you get older you need to take care of your bones.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Hi jan,&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Welcome!&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Hope you recover!&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I'm also petite and I find maxi dresses not flattering, they make me look too short! It's not a question of age appropriate!

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Hi and welcome, so glad you're on the road to recovery.&#060;br /&#062;
I don't think you're too old for a maxi dress but i know Angie dislikes the style on everyone unless it's an evening dress. She always suggests knee length dresses and if you prefer more coverage you can add tights or leggings x

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Hi Jan&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Welcome to the forum!! You'll get loads of helpful advice here and the lasses are all very supportive. I'm glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. Perhaps you could tell us a bit more about which styles of clothing you are attracted too, we'll be able to give more specific suggestions that way.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;How about Nordstrom, Bluefly, Macy's, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor &#038;amp; Ann Taylor Loft, BCBG Max Azria, Armani Exchange, White House Black Market, Express, Shopbop, RevolveClothing, Mango, Zara, Club Monaco...&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;You'll see these brands and stores often on YLF if you browse a bit (the outfits that are posted are often very inspirational and you always get some new ideas for combining items, trying new things etc.)&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;If you are looking for specific items, let us know too. We can help you find them;-)&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;P.S. I don't think you're too old for maxi dresses, but most people here don't think it's the most stylish option (knee-length is often more flattering). Did you have a particular one in mind?

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Hi,&#060;br /&#062;
  I'm new here, and I don't know why I never found you before! I've been in the beauty business as a makeup artist for 30 years and I never knew about this site. I'm hoping you can help me with a couple of things. I'm 47, 5 ft. and 80 lbs, on the road to recover from anorexia. But it's been a long road, and dressing myself since this illness started at sixteen, has been more of a challenge than a necessity. Where can I shop for smaller sizes that are actually age appropriate, (not matronly) and would you say I'm too old for a maxi dress? I've loved those since the 70's, and have been thinking about trying one...thanks so much, Jan
