I love the pants. I think both together would look great, but more conservative. To make it a little edgey I'd pair them with separate pieces...have fun with it. The model has a great hairstyle by the way!!

You all have great ideas and I like them all. I have been needing a reason to purchase a good denim jacket too and I do think it would look good with these pants.
Sihaya, I think these are light brown. It also comes in black, but I hear you on not trying to match things that will be just a little off. Good point. I think though that these two pieces are meant to go together as they are made by the same company.

San - this will work well with the suggestions the others make. The only thing to watch out for is that when the color is the same that they don't clash. I find this the most risky with black and the most forgiving with grey. I am guessing this color will be closer to grey. But sometimes when you have an all black outfit with separates - if the shades are slightly off, they look mis-matched.

San, I think you could get lots of wear out of these pieces. When you want to dress it up, wear them together. But the plaid reminds me of Angie's microcheck pants for casual wear or false plain. The pants could be paired with a denim jacket and the vest with jeans. each with a graphic tee or ruffle blouse or turtle neck, etc. Color would be easy to add as the plaid is neutral.
You could use the pieces with a moto jacket, blazer, short trench etc.

My first reaction was "too matchy" but I love Sarah and Tarzy's ideas. I'm still learning and hearing the ideas of others helps me keep an open mind to trying more possibilities. I bet you can pull off the look San.

Tarzy-I love your attitude!

I think it would look pretty cool! You could probably dress it down with a funky graphic tee.

Those pants are great, and I don't think it's too matchy because it's a vest and not a jacket.

I know what you mean, San! I'm not retired - just unemployed, unfortunately, but what I've started doing is dressing nicer every day, even if I'm just going to the grocery store.

I have quite a few nice jackets from Ann Taylor from my working days, and I love wearing them with jeans. I've just started wearing woven shirts again, so for instance, yesterday I wore a French blue button-down type of shirt, a solid blue jacket (from AT), and jeans. I just ran around and did errands and grocery shopping, and I did feel a tiny bit overdressed, but I didn't care. I felt good. I felt like a person with a life, instead of an unemployed bum!

Of course, when I got home I took off the jacket and put on a sweater, but it still felt good to make that effort during the day. I don't want to keep saving my "good" clothes. I want all of my clothes to be things I wear all the time. We'll see how that goes!

I am also on the tall side Sarah, 5'8".
Tarzy I like the outfit you describe. You have great vision for making outfits. I do not have that vision. I'm blind! Ha!
I would want it to be a fun outfit for going to something special in Seattle like the Paramount Theater, which we try to once a year.
Bella, I am retired so don't need anything that is business casual. I would only get this if it could just be playful casual. For when I want to get a bit dressed up but still comfy and relaxed. It is on the expensive side and not on sale. I'll watch it for a while and see if it goes on sale.
There are many Nanette LaPore things that are tempting in the same way to me. I would hope that the pieces would fit in my life style just for that once in a while special day. But maybe I am just dreaming that I am someone else with a different life! Ha!

I like it, I agree with Tara, it looks like a suit, so I think even with fun shoes and bag, it would look business casual (not smart casual). So it would be a great outfit if you need it for work wear.

Well - I'm still learning about style myself so you probably shouldn't listen to me! But I could see it working. It's sort of like wearing a suit - jacket and pants, only you're wearing a vest and pants, which is less dressy than a jacket, but still pulled together. Sometimes I like the idea of a suit, especially for us older ladies - it keeps the outfit simple looking. It might not be right for every day casual, but it could be a great option for when you want a bit more of a polished outfit? I think it could be a fun option to have!

I would agree with Sara that you would want a great blouse and fun shoes and bag. Maybe a knit shirt (or a really nice t-shirt) might keep it from being too "suit" like? I am curious to hear what others have to say!

I like the pants, san, but it could be too matchy? Although I would typically break up the pieces, I might wear them together with a bolder print blouse, like an animal print, etc. But I'm on the tall side, so that might be why.

Here are the pants that match a cute vest that I posted yesterday. Would it be too matchy to wear this together? I have a feeling it would look nice but I might feel like i am a fashion victim.
This also comes in black if anyone is interested.
