I quite like it but understand how you feel. Glad it has toned down a bit for you. I was simply going to suggest that with some makeup your hair will look quite striking.

Ok - crisis averted, I think... I gave it two washes with the dish washing liquid (as per the link above) and that lifted the colour a little and it is not quite as harsh on me as it was before. Phew!

It really brings out your beautiful eyes. I used to dye my hair that colour and I found after a couple of washes it really looked better and less flat. I think there is always extra colour deposited and once it sits and oxidises for a bit it lookes more multi-toned.

I would wait a bit -- in a few washes you may feel more comfortable. From what I can tell, I actually like it. But you must feel comfortable, and there's no doubt that a slight change in colour can feel very different to the one wearing it!

What Ruth said. You cannot dye lighter on top of dark. was the color permanent? I do like it though.

I think it's a bit dark, it's black.
I had the same problem with home coloring, all colors looked black on me.
It's too dark to re-paint, the paint won't show. Maybe you should go to an hairdresser.

I cannot advise you on the effects of a possible recoloring, but even if blonde, I can totally relate to your feelings, ever so slight difference in my hair colours is completely changing my skin colouring-and then, find so hard to make it work with my existing clothes.
BTW, one of our forum member, Sveta, was experiencing the same thing when going accidentaly from dark brown to black-but ended up to love it, so I vote give you some time, maybe it's growing on you!
We all know, colour will fade by time, but you can allways play with some make up for softening or accentuating the contrasts given between your new hair and your lovely face.

I colored my hair two days ago and I used a very dark brown instead of the deep red brown that I normally use...

Gosh it's dark!! It's changed my skin tone completely!

Now I'm wondering whether putting a different colour over this dark brown will have any effect or will it just be absorbed into the darkness?
