Love the jacket on you. Looks great with jeans. I like the wider cuff on the jeans. Seems more on trend and gives a casual vibe. And I just like that look. I prefer untucked tops.
Great boots. Look great with your jeans.
Your nieces are adorable.

Thanks CocoC. I was in Kingscliff in New South Wales where I found the cut off denims in a local op shop. My mum is Australian so I took her to see her relatives. I used to live on the Gold Coast (Main Beach) for about 18 months so know how the weather can be. My sister lives in Brisbane and I think the weather is much better on the coast because at least you have the breeze coming off the sea. I loved living on the coast...I used to walk to work along the beach. Its a place I'm very fond of.

Thanks El Cee...I've delegated the jeans for casual duty so am going to wear sneakers with them. They are too casual for work anyway. I might hem them later though as the hem is much too long.

You have some terrific new finds there! I love your tweed jacket and think it looks fabulous with jeans, especially when worn over an untucked slightly longer top (as in #2). I might be inclined to hem the jeans for a sleeker, less heavy look -- but, then again, the big cuffs could work well for casual days (when paired with sneakers and other casual footwear). The thrifted boots are great -- perfect for your upcoming cool weather. By the way, you look amazing in #11. Great outfit!

Sally, you were in my home town. It looks like you were down towards the Southern end, where I live. Did you enjoy the warm weather? I'm looking forward to the change of season...sometimes the summer feels so long. I'm sure that in a few months I'll be complaining and wanting warmth though..lol.

I love #11, my favourite. I agree with others, untucked looks good. What a score with your boots! They would be very versatile. I wear my knee boots a lot during our (short) winter.

Thanks BC I'm going to look for some white jeans. I have a pair of white slip on trousers which are cropped but really comfortable. I might look for a longer pair. The brand NYDJ are not as easy to find here but I'll have a look out. There are some other ponte trousers around that I might look at too. I do like the skinny jean style tapered at the ankle.

Thanks Vix for your insight into keeping my style and I have taken your advice on about finding solutions for work that make me still feel casual or natural in some way. I'm calling it the "weekend girl" look after reading a book with that style persona.

Thanks Jane and RobinF for your boost and feedback. I think I'll hang on to the tweed jacket. Angie has approved it and I still have 6 kilos to lose till I get to my goal weight. It might sit better on me then.

They are great purchases from the thrift store! I would go untucked. I am slightly not sure about the tweed jacket. Somehow, it looks a bit traditional and stiff. I really like the photo of you in casual shorts and t-shirt.

Hi Sally --

Great score on the boots; wear them with extra happiness! Another vote for untucked, but sounds like you're all set there.

I'm on the bustier side too and really prefer sleeker vs boxier jackets, so: bias stated. The darker jackets give you some nice shaping and lines; you certainly have legs for miles and look great in these combos with slim cut jeans!

I do really like the *lightness* of the tweed jacket on you, though -- great with your coloring. You say you find casual easy (envious, I'm the inverse) and I bet the texture really appeals, too?

If so -- and since you're going to give up jeans and simple Ts for work -- I'd somehow try to find work pieces that have a certain ruggedness/natural element to them so you feel "at home" in them. Not sure what that will look/feel like to you -- fabric? print? style? -- but could be interesting to explore! Do you have any knit blazers? To me they're the perfect mix of feeling "work-y" while looking more casual.

Since it was $10 and you're asking about length I'll say I'm not crazy about the tweed jacket with the current pairings and like your idea to try it with skirts/dresses. It may be too small in the bust/body (BTDT) -- maybe it's just the photo angles, but it doesn't seem like it covers as much real estate as the other jackets. If this one goes back keep looking for its sibling.

I much prefer untucked for me so am happy that seems to be the consensus here. I like all your looks, think I would hem the jeans. I really like the round hem of the top in #11.

Sally, I have purchased several pairs of NYDJ ponte trouser pants that are fab for work and are very comfortable. I bought them after our dress code at work was changed and we are no longer allowed to wear jeans to the office. I also have a pair of soft white jeans that are made of twill. I wear those to work because they don't look like jeans and I doubt anyone will know.

Thanks for the feedback...its a unanimous untuck then. Its funny after taking the photos and getting feedback, I get ideas about what to do.

I've come to the conclusion, I should separate my casual capsule from my work clothes and instead of wearing a t-shirt to work, I should find some more nice knit tops to wear with my blazers. I have a few black singlets that work well and drape nicely. That means I will as a rule wear my loafers, flats and booties for work and keep the lace up boots for casual.

I also think I should leave the skinny jeans for outside of work so I''m on the lookout for nice knit black pants to wear with tops and blazers. I think I"ll take the opportunity to try some different styles.

Marble...Thrifting is great fun isn't it? ...but I find I have to be discriminating ....having said that I have picked up some amazing finds over the years.

BC yes I'm very short waisted so that's probably why the tucking doesn't look so good.

Thanks Angie. I'm going to look for more tops to wear with the tweed jacket and am looking for pants to dress the outfit up a bit.

BrieN- good point about the jeans...after seeing the photos I decided I might leave the jeans for casual and wear with my sneakers and boots and leave the loafers for my slim pants

Thanks Summer for the feedback. I"m going to play around with the different tops and jackets to see the contrast.

I'm back again I forgot to complement the shoes with the tweed jacket so cute. I think I would have the jeans shortened. To my eye I think the cuff is too heavy with the more feminine shoe...

I like the darker shirt untucked with the blazer and but not the striped tops. The more the shirts contrast with the blazer the less I liked them untucked...go figure.

I dress with my tops untucked and with shorter Blazers, just like that, because I am short waisted. So from my perspective, I think it's best not to tuck.

I'm no expert, but I personally think the tees look best untucked and slightly longer than the blazer...gives the vibe of effortlessly cool and casual. #5 bothers me because I (personally) don't like to tuck if I'm not wearing a belt. Cool boots! Great find. I'm a big thrifter, too. I didn't have as much luck as you today but I picked up a Mango printed tee for $1.

Be warned, this is photo heavy. I have been away at a wedding on the Gold Coast and have come back to NZ realizing that it is nearly winter and I need to get my winter outfits sorted. I'm wearing jeans with blazers. I store any extra fat on my bust and stomach so I'm reluctant to tuck shirts into trousers and I prefer t-shirts to button downs because of that. So I want some honest feedback on what looks best. I also want to know what kind of pants to replace with the jeans if I wanted to be more work wise ( I prefer denim and skinnies as my bottom seems flatter in dress trousers)...would skinny ponte pants work(is there such a thing? )

1- 4 blue jeans...I got them on sale on the Gold Coast. I'm not sure what style they are but they are long so I folded them. should I keep them cuffed or shorten them. Also wondering about the jacket (thrifted for $10) ...I love it but wonder if its too short for the jeans and would be better with a dress. What looks better tucked or untucked?

5-7 super skinnies with a black jacket and boots...untucked and tucked versions.

8. the jacket with a dress (now I realize that the dress has got too roomy for me)

9. My thrifty boots I got for $10 today. They are nearly new and the original price was $250 but the buckle on the side needs to be sewn so I'm taking them to a shoe repairer.

10 My super skinny jeans with ankle boots and a purple blazer

11. Black skinny jeans with ankle boots and striped shirt and black blazer

12- 13 Finally 2 bonus photos of my trip. Outside our apartment in the gold coast in thrifted cut offs. I do super casual so much better than dressed up. The bride and bridesmaid at the wedding I went...they are both my nieces at a bohemian themed wedding.
