Thank you everyone for your infinite wisdom, this has been tremendously helpful to me. I tend not to analyze my outfits perhaps to the degree I should, before stepping out of the house. But this one truly confounded me, definitely in part to the white skinnies which was a bit of an experiment for me.

When I make an honest assessment of the photos above my preference is probably #1 (so hard to look at photos of oneself objectively). Day Vies, what you mentioned totally resonated with me. One of my priorities in dressing is leg elongation (or at least minimization of leg shortening) so that is why I gravitated to the tuck. White I think has a tendency to widen and shorten. But then I get a lot of frontal exposure which is tricky. I'm not uncomfortable exposing this area, it has remained fairly flat considering three kids. I have other trouble areas that I focus on way more (hello arms).

What I do have is a long rise and I have concerns about amplifying that. These jeans are mid-rise which is my preference. My natural waist is quite high. These jeans sit at least two inches below my belly button, if not more. If anything, I aim to appear proportionate, but realize that I don't always achieve this. I'm tallish, so that definitely helps some. I will confess that I love tight jeans, weirdly they are more comfortable to me, they stay put better, and it's part of my rocker personna.

Zapotee, I totally knew where you were going in regard to the poison eye, lol. And the bag is definitely fab, it is a great colour! We must have the same taste is bags, if I recall you have the MJ stam too? Perhaps we have some other overlap as well. :)

Angie, those looks are fabulous on you, have pinned for inspiration. My bootcuts are more in this vein and I will try both these looks in the spring. I so value your feedback, and your insight.

Day Vies, I loved your assessment, and I think you identified exactly why the first outfit worked for me. You have such a great eye and an excellent ability to articulate your thoughts. Thank you!

Suz, your thoughts about the belt are probably correct. What colour belt do you think would work? I tried a black one and it looked all sorts of wrong on me. I love the coat too, definitely elevates any outfit. It is Burberry, I got it this fall in Vancouver. I swear that store is my downfall.

Marley, you've made me really think about correct shirt length. I will contemplate this in my outfit selections. I think this is going to pose a challenge due to my long rise.

And everyone else, thank you for the kind words and insightful comments.

I like skinnies (that are true skinnies - as opposed to slouchy skinnies or tailored skinnies) - worn with an untucked top. However, I think that the top needs to be longer than the one that you show in your pic. To my eye - the bottom of the untucked top is ending at the widest part of your hips, thereby drawing the eye to that area. I think that your jacket in pic 1 is the perfect length for an untucked top with true skinnies - in fact, I like the outfit in pic 1 - for the reasons that Day Vies outlines. Otherwise, I'd go with a longer untucked top!

GREAT outfit! Love the contrast of inky blue

I like it tucked with the jacket, untucked otherwise! :-o

Well, same reasons as Zap & Angie and Day Vies explained... with the addition that Angie's jeans also sit lower on the waist while yours are higher waisted. So are mine, and I find tucking into that higher waist sans a topper can be a little iffy in lighter or brighter colours. It produces rather a large expanse of 'butt' (back waist gets included). But then you aren't short or short-waisted like me and you still look absolutely proportionate, so this may not be a priority area for you.

Coveting your gorgeous green bag right along with Zapotee...

I love the first picture with the coat! You really do white skinnies well.

With this outfit, I vote untucked.

First off, you look sensational. Secondly, I think you have a very upmarket version of my coat! (Mine's a Vince Camuto colourblock pea coat.)

I actually like both the tucked and the untucked version, so I would go with whichever one makes you more comfortable. On the whole I agree with Day Vies that the absolute best is #1 -- tucked with the jacket.

When I'm tucking I really prefer to wear a belt, even if it is very toned in to the colour of the pants...(which sometimes you might want so as not to create another horizontal line). I just find it feels more finished that way.

I like both. I don't see any body issues with the tucked, but you MUST wear it the way it's comfortable for you, of course.

My first impulse is to agree that untucked works best with these more skinny skinnies, but I am impressed with Day Vies explanation of the advantages of the tuck with jacket. I would also try a belt with the tuck.

Gorgeous combination. I agree that untucked works beautifully here due to the skinnies being so body con. Lovely.

I like the tuck (outlier on this thread unfortunately). I will explain. I realize that if you have issues with your tummy then showing it off is going to sap your confidence while wearing this look. I get it because my tummy and I have a similar relationship However, I have gotten around my tuck issues similar to what you've done in #1 tuck but wear a jacket or a cardi. It covers that line of demarcation and focuses attention only where you want it to show -- right around the buckle area.

If it makes you feel any more confident I don't notice your tummy at all when your shirt is tucked. When it's un-tucked my eye is drawn to the curve of your hips because that's the line of demarcation. The hip line is wider than the line created when you tuck at your waist. So in short, on you, I like tucked with an open jacket or cardi as a security blanket.

Another vote for untucked in this case because your skinnies are body con. And untucked is going to make YOU feel more comfortable and therefore more stylish.

That said I wear tailored white skinnies that aren't as tight and I love tucking into them. I do not have a poison eye for that look :). In fact I love the combination. My pinterest boards are full of loose tops tucked into white skinnies. The next item on my Spring shopping list is a pair of slouchy white skinnies.

Love your outfit, Tina!!

Tucking yes, not with these skinnies though IMO. I feel white skinnies need the coverage, but that is my personal poison eye.

I forever have struggled with the tucking issue. And I'm sure this question has been addressed many times here before. And I still can't decide what looks most flattering for me. I wear a lot of button down blouses and blouses in generally. Most often, I do not tuck, I think I like the more casual vibe of that. But I do tuck occasionally, or half tuck like I did today. I think my legs look short when I don't tuck. But tucked seems to draw a ton of attention to the midsection. Especially with a white jean, lol!

I would appreciate your honest feedback on what is the better look for me. I ended up wearing this in a half tuck, but I did try also a full tuck with a belt (no pic) and no tuck at all.

I just got these white skinnies to wear for an upcoming trip to warmer climes. But I wanted to given them a test run in the winter weather. I usually wear white denim as a flare or bootcut, but I save those for when the snow has melted. Sorry for the blurry pics, still working on my camera settings.
