Welcome Nanabear! I think the white pants will be fine length-wise if worn with a flat sandal etc. You could also pair them with a non-matching jacket for some colour contrast and interest.
I agree with the others that the dress could be a useful addition to your closet, and could be worn with cardigans, vests and jackets too.

Thanks for the replies! I was wearing heels in the first picture(which I normally don't) - the length is actually the same as the pants in the second picture.

The fit of the first pair is great, but I feel like the hem is just a smidge too high for proper pant length (otherwise known as PPL).

I could take or leave the second pair of pants; I just don't have particularly strong feelings on them, so I think it's up to you whether you like them and will wear them and if they will integrate well into your closet!

I didn't wear anything but t-shirts, jeans and hoodies while doing undergrad, but I think that was because I didn't make the effort. I rarely wear pants anymore and I'm still (unfortunately) in school. What changed was I started caring more about how I looked and decided I was going to make an occasion to wear my clothes rather than waiting for one. So if you really like the dress and want it in your closet, I think you could totally wear it to uni! What immediately popped into my head was to put a jean jacket over top. Another idea for summer is a pastel blazer. I think it would be a pretty versatile dress, but I think it can tend towards nightgown-ish, so you'd definitely have to accessorize a bit!

Gee, I had a similar dress (although with sleeves) when I was in university. I found places to wear it... Put a denim jacket over it and why couldn't you wear it to class? If you're not comfortable with that (or a similar solution), don't get it.

I like that pants, but I can't say about the colour, especially if it isn't true in the photo. The real question is: do YOU like it? Do you have things you can wear with it?

Hey everyone! This is my first post at YLF and hopefully will have lots more to come!

http://i47.tinypic.com/289vs7.jpg
I went shopping today as most stores were having their end of season sales. I found these super comfy wide leg khaki pants discounted at $12.99. I bought the pants in white as I felt it would go great with my white blazer. There was a little stain at the waist so I got it discounted further and took it home for $9.50 =D

http://i47.tinypic.com/30lmmhf.jpg
Originally I did not like this colour on me (it's a little more red than in the photo; kinda brown-red, mauveish colour) but now it's starting to grow on me. It is comfortable, but my sister says the colour is ugly (haha) and I am better off with only the white pair. Should I get it?

http://i50.tinypic.com/dol6j9.jpg
I think this dress is really pretty, but as I am in uni I don't think I'll have a lot of opportunity to wear it. It is on sale, but I feel that I shouldn't waste my money on something that I won't wear (albeit very pretty). Dilemma!!!

So, I'll pass it on to all of you - any thoughts?
