Mel: Hi~ I hear your question too. I have a few tweed blazers and I'm not a jeans girl at all.
I style mine with cashmere joggers, and a simple t underneath, and pearls. But that's my style. Many here love jeans, and would style it differently. I don't care for jeans all that much. I'm kind of quirky, I like to mix casual with formal. I'll wear my pearls with jogging pants and Nikes, with my Chanel jacket. Weird I know. So my reccomendation is to first find what YOU like. People can go on here asking for questions on what to wear, but it all comes down to them in the long run. What do we like? What do we feel comfy in? Right? It's really not about what anyone else says. It's what YOU feel comfy in. I say wear your lovely tweed jacket with what you love! Can you post a pic of it? Super duper! I'm beginning to think this site is for women who are clueless about fashion.

Cindysmith:those pics are awesomely fab, thank you for sharing them

There is so much inspiration on You Tube these days. Check out Chanel styling her tweed jackets

@Fashintern, I wore dark brown riding boots. They looked good!

I love those mens pics, especially the bright red plaid combined with tweed. If I could find a red plaid dress I would try it out with my tweeds.

@bj1111, I love your ideas! especially #2.
Yeah, I´m hoping to find the jacket on ebay I'm after a specific coral J Crew Robert Noble tweed jacket that came out about 10 years ago. This is a picture of it. I haven't found it in my size yet.

And I'm so sad J Crew is not doing well in business...their wool and tweed pieces are so beautiful.

khaki cargoes and docs
band t, denim skirt and velvet loafers/stan smiths
cashmere crew neck sweater, leather(ette) leggings and high heel booties
slipdress over a button down and brogues

coral tweed sounds so fab! unexpected.

Classic loafers would work with the classic looks, and maybe with the leggings as well. Take a look at what the guys are wearing in the photos from Cindysmith. What shoes did you wear with the red dress?

What great ideas from all of you!

@Zibbets, I love that frilly dress and tweed combination. Come to think of it, I used to pair my tweed blazer with a plaid Ralph Lauren ruffle blouse (look for them on ebay!). The ruffles and pattern mixing contrasted with the structure of the blazer. I just never thought of doing it with ruffle skirts and dresses, which I have never owned.

@aurore, I´m loving the cullotes and aline skirts paired with blazers.

@cindysmith, I tried that pattern mixing today: blue, polka dot shirt with my brown tweed blazer. It looked great! The plaid looks fun too. I wonder how it would look with a frilly plaid skirt (if I can find one).

I also wore my brown tweed blazer yesterday with a dark red sweater dress and scored a winner. The dress is something I usually save for special occasions but the tweed blazer actually made it look more casual, and the red color made the brown "pop" out.

Come to think of it, I nearly always pair my tweed blazers with riding boots. It's kind of an automatic instinct. I am looking at some other possible footwear, like oxfords or mocassins, with a modern think sole or some variation of color. Have any of you tried varied footwear, even brightly colored footwear with your tweeds?

Go for the English country village weekend look. Corduroy pants, pullover knits, boots or booties, chunky knit or faux fur scarf. Tweeds are great for adding texture. You can mix in other textures and patterns.

Khakis, fatigues, especially in modern shapes to contrast with the more "traditional" tweed. Even camo if you are so inclined (not for work though).

And agreeing with what others have said: cords, velvet. Or even silky/satiny fabrics

Take some styling cues out of the men's playbook. There lots of guys that wear a blazer with casual pants and shirt and might even have sneakers on with it or something. Some pics for inspiration

I think it could still function as a casual look with trousers if you did a casual tee and casual footwear with it, and toss in some casual accessories.

I'm totally loving the suggestions above. Such a rich mix of textures <3 and they seem to kind of line up with what I found doing a quick Google search to get these pics

I am also part of the Boden tweed blazer club. I treat it like a solid colour and wouldn't hesitate to pair it with a patterned bottom -- floral, plaid, what-have-you, as long as the colours play nicely. If I had a vintage-y floral skirt, I would pair it with my tweed blazer in a heartbeat!

I also like the cord and velvet suggestions. I wear mine over dress+leggings pretty often, too. Leather skirt or leggings would be super-cool.

Greyscale, I too have a Boden tweed blazer. I have a tweedy, Anglophile side that it plays to, but it hasn't seen much action yet. I too will keep an eye on this post. The quality is gorgeous, of course.

I also have a brown equestrian blazer that I got as a ridiculous deal at TJ Maxx. But I got it just before my wardrobe took a hard left turn away from classic. I can't bear to part with it, though, as I feel its time may yet come. I'm sure my tweedy side will return.

Ooh very timely - I just ordered a Boden tweed blazer to make my interview capsule a little less starkly black. Once it arrives I'll have to play with bottoms. I think ponte pants are a great idea (I have skinny woven wool pants that fill the same niche).

I like how the variegated texture/color of denim combines well with tweed, so I think the goal for me is to find non-jeans that impart some of the same effect.

love SarahD8's idea...

also, if you aren't a legging person, substitute a basic Ponte pant (WHBM is a great source if you don't already have a pair)

also try a straight leg or cigarette leg dress pant.

Do any of you have tips for styling tweed blazers with bottoms that are NOT denim, but still conserve a casual vibe in your outfit? I love tweed blazers and want to add more to the collection, but since they tend to be pricey, I want to see them as all-around workhorses and not just museum pieces. I have a Zara brown tweed blazer, a grey Banana Republic one, and looking to get a coral or creme J Crew blazer. I've looked online for inspiration but most of what I have found is limited to outfits with jeans for casual wear or with pencil skirts for work.
