Kristen, I found my fabulous seamstress by asking for recommendations at the local fabric store. Several local seamstresses had their business cards on display there. I asked the women who worked there which seamstress was the best, and they pointed me in the right direction Good luck!

The best way is from someone whose wardrobe you admire. I asked at a high end store yesterday and they recommended a tailor who did an absolute horrid job on just shortening my husbands pants.

I did what Isabel recommends, talked to the SA in a high-end department store. They suggested a great seamstress:)

I like to call local stores or boutiques and ask who they use or who they recommend. I found my shoe cobbler that way too. If you are in Atlanta, call a place like Nieman or Bloomie or a place like that...though little boutiques are great too. Good Luck !!!!!

Hi everyone. I found a cute dress in my closet that I think I'd wear more if it was a bit shorter. At this point, it's about 1-2 inches below my knee and makes me feel a bit matronly. This is a sewing job I don't think I can do myself because the dress is a jersey cotton and I'm not comfortable attempting on a fabric like that. So, I'm going to try to find a tailor here in town. What questions should I ask and what red flags should I look for when talking to different people? Thanks!
